LOS ANGELES - Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.

Bless her drug addled, troubled heart, you could see this coming but I thought she’d do herself in unintentionally.
That woman could sing, though. Too bad the pernicious Big Entretsinment drug culture destroyed her.
Don’t know about the times, but I saw them talking about it on Fox News and went immediately to “latest articles” and it had just been posted at the top of the page. Both channels are all about it now.
Whitney...
Cracked up.
Whitney Houston dead at 48. Good reminder of why I need to stay clean and sober. RIP
Dlistd has gossip about the party.
I totally agree. I see genuine “tragedy” in a 29 YO mother dying of cancer. I see tragedy in 9/11. I see tragedy in the death of the Powell children at the hands of a psyopath.
In Whitney H. I see the unfortunate end to a self inflicted situation and I feel bad for her family/children.
It is no ‘Tragedy.”
That said, may God hold her.
A real shame. Even though her music was not the type of music I listened to. I remember back in the 1980’s, she was really a good looking lady and pretty well innocent. Bobby Brown changed that and really ruined her !
Bump. Thanks for that info.
....and, as importantly, while you are alive, you are in misery.
Take it from me, I was once an addicted user of what Whitney used.
We don’t know yet if it was drug related but she ruined herself over drugs.
I think this is such a shame on so many levels after years of loving her voice. And that National Anthem at the start of the Gulf War at the Super Bowl (1991?)ranks the best ever sang by anyone.
She had it all and threw it all away. Listening to her trying to sing after her comeback last year was just painful. She threw it all away for drugs.
Agreed.

But it was yours.
She had a gift in her voice and a mother who tried very hard to protect her.
Wasn’t enough.

She didn’t have the royalty money that most stars bank on after they stop being a cash making machine. She didn’t own her music and she was not credited for writing her songs, even as a business move.
Her and Bobby Brown lived on what she made up to the “Body Guard” movie and soundtrack and that was it. She claims that she was at the top of her career (She was!) with a world tour and other movie deals but he held her back because he didn’t want her in the spotlight as much since his career was in the toilet and he didn’t want to be “Mr Whitney Houston” being supported by his wife. She said she felt guilty.
She supported his entire worthless, trashy, criminal family including his Father and sisters.
