I am a strong Newt supporter, but.... I need to be consistent.

When Newt was way ahead I urged Santorum to drop out... now I must do that same to Newt.

Out first priority must be to stop Romney, and to do that I now urge Newt to drop out so we can unite this party against Romney. It’s a shame that Mitt was able to demonize Newt so easily :(

I'm not ready to say that Newt should drop out.

But when my primary comes round, I will definitely vote for whomever has the better chance of beating Romney.

I still have a hope that might be Newt, but that hope is thinning.

Newt should stay in for now, but Santorum and he should work together to take Romney out.

If Newt drops out, what’s left after Romney trashes him?
Santorum is a loser. Sorry, but he simply is.
If there’s a Gingrich/Santorum plan out there, they might be able to knock Romney out at the convention.
But 2-3 weeks from now, Santorum is going to be in a very different place. We must hope that he and Newt together have poll numbers higher than Romney’s.

Same here. I want Newt to win, but if Rick's momentum carries him to the front Saturday, then Newt needs to throw his weight behind the last credible Conservative in the race. rObomney-ism must be stopped.

U could definitely see Newt supporters going to Santorum. Conversely, I can somehow see Paul supporters going to Romney. It puts things in perspective.

I think they both need to stay in whil Romney continues his game of whack a mole. If Newt drops out and Santorum falls, Mitt wins. If one of them drops out, I prefer they wait until New York and California.

I don’t think anyone needs to or should drop out. By switching the target on Romney we keep him off balance and he loses focuses and he’s seen as a negative only candidate. The only way he beat Newt was in Iowa he went 100% negative (along with Paul) to attack Newt.

I think after that Newt said...I’m taking Romney with me as I fall because he started this. Prior to that Newt was very classy in debates and wasn’t speaking ill of is fellow Republicans. But now he’s like a woman scorned and has his sights on Romney. Let Newt be the attack dog and petty fight with Romney...while Santorum can stay on message. Romney won’t be able to fight both of them with his standard 25% polling. Plus if Santorum implodes we have a fall back to Newt. Worse case scenario no one gets the delegates needed and we have a brokered convention—which at this point may be the best news.

Several threads and several non FR articles have made it clear over the past week that the best path to defeat Romney is for both Newt and Rick to stay in.

I don’t think Newt should drop out. This poll indicates what I’ve thought all along, if the candidate is strong enough to win they can do it no matter who else is in the race. And I believe in having a plan b if something goes wrong.

So Go Rick! Go Newt!

How about Newt stays in and pushes Romney into 3rd place? he's only 6 pts back.

I don't think 1-on-1 is the best way to face Romney - if Santorum had dropped out, Romney would have destroyed Newt with negative ads and cruised to the nomination. 1-on-1 vs Santorum he could still do the same.

When you've got a Romney down, don't take your boot off his throat!

It was so easy to demonize Newt, because there was so much there that was demonic.Did we forget DEDE?Fannie and Freedie?Millions made from selling his influence to the highest bidder? His own party refusing to let him continue as speaker of the house?Resigning leaving his state in the lurch? His good times with Hillary and Pelosi?Cheating on his wife?Oh,and he just lost his biggest money backer?
NO NEWT NO!!!

Our first priority must be to stop Romney

It looks like I'm a three time loser: Cain, Perry, Gingrich. If Santorum is on top by the time of the Illinois Primary, he'll have my full support.

Hmmmm... Newt has been in the middle of the Tparty and all this from the get go. He continues this fumbling of “no no, let me do it, I got this”, like Iceman to Maverick in Top Gun, and I wonder if he is lying or not.

Easy, pilgrim.

Super Tuesday is in a month. Let’s wait three weeks and see where things stand.

NEVER get on the bandwagon of a bump too quickly. Stick with the guy who has staying power. Let’s see if Rick can demonstrate it better than after Iowa.

Unlike some, I don’t quit.

I also don’t change course when the wind shifts.

Newt has my support and he will continue to have my support.

If in the unlikely event you and the other ‘wind changers’ manage to get Santorum nominated, I will have no other reasonable choice but to vote for him.

I wish you good luck, but I wish me better luck.

GO NEWT GO—it’s about the survival of our country!!

I hope Newt listens to you with the same attention that Santorum listened to you.

It’s way too early for that to happen. Santorum needs to show me sumpin’ more before I jump on that bandwagon.

I think Newt might still pull it out.
