According to reports from the Free Syria Army, the Syrian military has moved forces stationed in the southern part of the Syrian Golan Heights closer to Israel.
The Syrian military did not come close to the border with Israel. However, armored forces that were stationed along the Syria-Jordan border, which were recently reinforced, were moved and are now closer to Israel, according to the report.
The Free Syria Army is the largest opposition group in Syria and is partly made up of defectors from the official Syrian Army.
Israel has been concerned that Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad, whose regime is on the verge of collapse, may try to defuse the uprising against him by starting a conflict with Israel.

Thanks. Wouldn’t doubt this is at the instigation
of Iran.
The Iranians are even more pissed (if that is possible) because the Israelis killed some of there scientists on Iranian soil. They want this war with Israel as soon as they can bring it.
Maybe they are trying to get OUT of Syria - 400 killed in the last few days...
Assad threatened to start a regional war if he was being pressured too much...this may be the early stages.
I’m not too worried about Israel taking care of itself - they have plenty of intel regarding Syria, and more every day. BiBi isn’t going to allow Israel to experience anothe 1973.
Sounds like the feces is about to hit the rotating device.
MI Ping
A massed armor assault like in 1973 would be met with smart munitions delivered by both air & artillery. The Syrian armored divisions wouldn’t even reach their line-of-departure.
Of course the question is not whether the IDF can destroy the Syrian mechanized forces, but what will happen when they do?
I trust that IAF is well stocked with anti-tank missiles?
And tanks.
Can't we get more accuracy than this?
Closer, but not right at. How far away, they don’t say.
The Syrian Army— bums with guns.
LOL. I guess they figure they can put a platoon over the Golan and then just stand back and watch as Israel wipes out Damascus for them.
Hmmmmm 15,000 of Quds force moving into Syria to defend the regime, freeing forces for a tangle with Israel. Assad must be desperate.

A limited, very limited, conflict would be good for Assad, and would limit criticism from other Arab states. Wonder whose side Barry will be on?
An unlimited, humiliating ass-whupping of Assad would be very bad for him, though. Why should there be a Syrian Golan Heights? It’s higher than the Israeli side, and therefor is important. Friend of mine temporarily occupied it in ‘73, and the snow and cold was more deadly than the Syrians.
It would, but Arabs always miscalculate. Could Assad assume that Israel wouldn’t respond in force to limited incursions, he could, and if he’s right it would rally a portion of Syria and the Arab world against the common enemy. Whether limited incursions means limited response is up to Israel. If it was the US, Assad would be correct, we’d underact. He’s treading dangerous ground, and depending on his actions, giving Israel the opportunity to clear southern Lebanon at the same time.
Sounds like Sunni Arab propaganda. Why would Assad waste men and ammo needed for a sectarian war against Sunni Arabs fighting Israel? Besides, just like the GOP can’t out-liberal the Democratic Party, Assad can’t possibly outbid the Muslim Brotherhood in his willingness to act against Israel. Assad merely wants to defeat Israel - the Muslim Brotherhood wants to kill every last Jew in the world.
