“They are a health hazard.”
Thank you! Someone needed to say it.

LFTR will never happen... it makes too much sense. China or India will get it done.
Republicans are shoveling $$$ to T. Boone Pickens & Soros for Natural Gas just like they did with ethanol.

Coal is actually more of a health hazard than nuclear.
But do you like that iPhone? Do you like that computer?
Gotta take some risk. If you want to advance as a society we need power.
To: kidd
We ought to be building ten of fifteen more. But two is a start.

So out of ~8 reactors proposed around 2008 only 2 have made it this far.
I think Palo Verde in AZ should build a forth but i don't think it will happen.

In the 80’s I had a bumper sticker on my truck that said, “GO NUKES”. It sure did piss of some people. Ef em with the single finger salute, I did. I use to work the North East doing service work at plants. GO NUKES!

I’m not a fan of coal either.
And nuclear power is too dangerous.

You go stand next to a reactor, I’ll plug in my new HDTV.
We’ll see who deals with the ramifications of a health hazard.

Go dig coal in a mine and tell me how safe it is.
What is with this picture on your home page? Are you making a statement of some kind?

There was talk of building one in South Texas a couple years ago and a lot of fighting about it because of the effect on the cattle-land and river water. They use a LOT of water apparently.

All it would take is one “off-the-record”, “behind the scenes”, “private”, “whispered” telephone “suggestion” to the right ears from “Mr. Big-Shot” and the whole process comes to a screeching halt. ELECTION YEAR POLITICS!!
To: GraceG
now theres a plant I wouldn’t want to stand next to.
speed of construction is not necessarily a win when it
comes to ‘nucular’ power.
To: ConservaTexan
I should start organizing counter-protests against the econuts right now. Seriously. I’m in the Atlanta area.

What is with this picture on your home page? Are you making a statement of some kind? There are so many people on this planet who don't understand the physical world....the math, science, processes and energy requirements of maintaining the products and services of a technical/industrial civilisation. They have no idea. They sit on their comfy sofa with their cat and make ignorant, sweeping statements, all the while pining for a pastoral, idyllic, one-world society. A world that ultimately leads to shivering in dark caves and munching bushes with rotted teeth.

As I understand it from a buddy in the industry, what this means is that they start pouring nuclear-grade concrete almost immediately, like this week.
