Declaring that he is in the race for the long haul, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich floated the possibility Tuesday night that Republicans may have the first open convention since 1940.
Im certainly in it all the way to the convention. Well see what happens, Gingrich told CNN. At the rate were going, you could have the first open convention since 1940 which would give you something to cover that you would just love.
In the 1940 Republican National Convention the first televised contest Wendell Willkie of Indiana was nominated for president on the sixth ballot in Philadelphia, according to various reference sources...
Gingrich predicted that Romney will not do as well as he did in 2008 in those states. Missouri has no delegates at stake in its primary.
I think the big story coming out tonight is its very hard for the elite media to portray Gov. Romney as the inevitable nominee after tonights over...,
Gingrich said that he has been focusing on winning the battleground state of Ohio during the March 6 Super Tuesday battle, when voters in 10 states head to the polls.
We, I think, have a very real chance of winning Ohio so its very exciting to be here, said Gingrich, who is also focusing on Arizona and Michigan on Feb. 28 and Tennessee and Georgia on Super Tuesday.
I think were going to do very well on Super Tuesday. Were going to compete very intensely in Arizona and Michigan, he said, noting that he spoke with Texas Gov. Rick Perry earlier today.
We have a very strong operation in Texas. We have a very strong operation in Georgia. Our goal is through Super Tuesday; we then go to Alabama and Mississippi and then we go to Texas... (snip)

lol, thats for sure!
Good luck with that.
Santorum will get killed in the general election and he has felt no the in the GOP p[primary.
He is whiny and thin skinned, but then so is the current POTUS.
I have always said Santorum has a chance.
I personally don’t like the guy. He’s mighty smug for me.
LOL
Gnight.
Actually Michael Reagan does not agree with you. He is saying that Santorum could win the general because he is likable and has a great story. And he is the most conservative of the candidates. I think Michael Reagan is kicking himself tonight by the way he is talking about how disappointed he is with Gingrich. He says he is becoming the Guliani candidate and feels that he wasted tonight big time.
felt no heat
I disagree.
Tonight was for NO delegates!
I have no disagreement that conservatives should ultimately unite. But, 2 things.
(1) Today’s, Rasmaussen poll was R34-g-27-S18-P12. Newt is simply not going to drop out while he still leads Rick in the polls- particularly with the advent of his strong states.
(2) If Newt did drop out now, Ronmey would carpet bomb Rick with negative ads— As it stands now, Romney likely doesn’t know who to go after.
I support Newt over Rick, for one reason- Newt did mastermind the defeat of the 40 year Dem rule in the House- that’s just fact. And therefore, I think he’s is infinitely more capable of any of the current candidates to turn the country around in 2013- he has that proven record.
I’m sure, if he doesn’t do well in the Southern states, and Rick continues to climb, Newt will ultimately drop. But, that remains to be seen.
Tonight was for NO delegates!
You have said that about 100 times. I know that. 12 March Santorum will get ALL of the earned delegates. Tonight is about MOMENTUM!!! I love it even more than the delegates because if you turn on every news program right now it is ALL about Santorum!!!! You cannot do better than that!
But Naps told me Mike Reagan backs Santorum!
If we choose based on what the Press will do to the particular candidate then we pre-narrow our field to DNC approved Democrats.
I think I said it twice.
Let it SINK in.
Gnight.
well, if “naps” supports Sanctimonium, you should sorta expect him to be factually-challenged and holier-than-thou enhanced... it leaves marks on the mind... I have the html for that beauty pageant poster I just posted if anyone needs it... PLEASE POST IT EVERYWHERE!!
The subject was studied once and it was found that women who conceive from real forcible rape are more likely than other women to NOT want an abortion. The attitude most expressed was not wanting to respond to one crime by committing another. Raped women who are forced or cajoled into abortions have the worst psychological outcomes. I don’t remember the name of the study. It is, I believe, pre internet and I can’t find it again and didn’t think to copy it when I saw it as I was pretty indifferent to such things then. That was one thing that began to pry me out of that indifference.
Gnight.
My problem with Santorum is that he just isnt that conservative.
He panders to evangelicals like no ones businesses and this election isn’t about evangelicals, its about the ECONOMY.
Obama is setting this guy up to have Santorum make the debate about religious dogma while detracting from the economic issues
Since when is contraception and abortions this years issue?
Santorum is taking the bait.
And again I will state that I understand and agree with the man on a lot of these 3rd rail issues, but he will get creamed in the general election.
I call Bull ******* ****!
