Following the fall out over the controversial Chrysler Super Bowl halftime ad, Clinton Eastwood spoke exclusively with OReilly Factor producer Ron Mitchell
"I just want to say that the spin stops with you guys, and there is no spin in that ad. On this I am certain. l am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama. It was meant to be a message about just about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it. I thought the spirit was OK....

Yes, it was a statement hoiw America as a whole is behind and it is halftime..and we will win! Not in the ad, which is fine..is we will win as soon as we get a conservative majority and President! Asap!
When I first saw the title Detroit “Comeback” Ad, etc. I thought someone didn’t know how to abbreviate Louisiana.
Damn, it's tough being a celebrity and claiming to be a conservative these days. They're almost required to offer up a child for sacrifice just to prove it......Is that the proof you want Servant?
I don’t know whether or not he realized what the ad was about or not. It might just have sounded like a good opportunity to make some money and appear on a show with huge numbers of viewers.
But it was a stupid thing to do. Most of Clint Eastwood’s movies—the early ones, at any rate—appeal to conservative audiences. Why would he risk offending that constituency?
You make adjustments at halftime, you don’t change the team or the coach at halftime. America (Detriot) is one of the teams and I guess the rest of the world, our competitors, is the other one. Four more years for Coach Obama.
Only if you live your entire life looking at the world thru a political microscope......some would consider that politically anal-retentive and just plain weird. Get yourself a hobby and start enjoying life........
I don’t consider obamamama as the coach. He is just a player in this game. His coach is unseen and unheard. Its the Manchurian Coach if you will.
Hey Clint!
Grand Torino was a FORD!
Why didn’t you do the ad for a NON-BAILOUT company?!?!?!
Well, maybe Detroit is too dangerous for film crews now, seeing as how it’s apocolyptic.
In Its Halftime in America, a seeming nod to President Ronald Reagans Morning in Americaad, the Dirty Harry star gives what felt like a pep talk to Detroit and the United States over images of the Michigan city, assembly lines, average looking Americans and, yes, some Chrysler vehicles.
Its halftime. Both teams are in their locker rooms discussing what they can do to win this game in the second half, Eastwood begins. Its halftime in America, too. People are out of work and theyre hurting. And theyre all wondering what theyre gonna do to make a comeback.
We find a way through tough times, and if we cant find a way then well make one. All that matters now is whats ahead, how do we come from behind, how do we come together, and how do we win. Detroits showing us it can be done.
Translation: Detroit is showing us how it is done, i.e., government bailouts and taking over the auto industry and giving the unions control over the companies instead of the bond holders. Obama said we have to come together as a team in his SOTU address and that his policies are working ("Detroit's showing us it can be done.") We have completed the first half (Obama's first term) and now we have the second half (Obama's second term) ahead. Team America led by coach Obama will take us thru the second half and lead us in our comeback victory. That's the message from Government Motors.
In fact ABC news now is very directly implying exactly that.
Puppet or puppeteer, Obama is the guy in the WH, our President and CIC. In this analogy, he is the coach. You don’t change coaches at halftime.
Speaking of ‘getting a life’ .....
I just watched the ad for the first time (didn’t see it during the game), and it doesn’t seem political to me at all. So, naturally, anybody of any political coloration can read into it whatever they want. But I don’t read it as being pro-Obama.
My two cents. I will now retreat behind my flame-retardant shield of dragon scales.
Yes, it was. I wish Clint would run. I’ve heard him and the admakers say there was absolutely no intention of political comment..and I believe them..but I’ve heard both sides’ sing its’ praises or voice their displeasure. Ear of the Beholder? I heard a broader message...more of a ‘we can get back on our feet’ message. And that we can get through this. Hold on folks, another 300 plus days...
The only bright spot in all this is how effective Mike Rowe is for Ford. It's almost unfair ... ;o)))~
Chrysler’s take..
He is now. Eastwood has always had RINO tendencies and now they are on full display.
