I got my ST albums confused. The one that I have and fell in love with is ‘Brother Where You Bound’. Not played like their earlier stuff (put out in 1985) but it is an awesome album. I like all of their work but Brother where you bound is different but the best (It’s after a change in band personnel too).
Thanks for the links! I’ll be listening.
I don’t know if you’ll see this (maybe I should just PM you), but I wanted to “publicly” thank you for your mention of Supertramp’s BWYB — I only had it on vinyl until your post, and your post about it prompted me to A) Check the Dynamic Range Database for a potentially better than average release on CD; B) Having found a well rated German release on the DR database, I looked for that release on eBay and was able to snag it.
On a really good hi-fi system - oh, my goodness!! This is an incredibly good recording, which just brings out the musicianship all the more. “Brother” smokes most modern pop music so badly that I don’t even know how to describe the difference. (Sorry, Adele fans.) Maybe saying that it’s like comparing a powerful thunderstorm to a mewing kitten covers part of it, except that BTWB’s quieter and delicate sections are terrific too.
It’s also pretty interesting how BTWB’s lyrics, originally written for a much different political season, still strike a chord, though not in exactly the same way the band originally had in mind!
Anyway, I’ve been enjoying the heck out of my new copy of Brother Where You Bound, so, thanks again for bringing it up! :-)
