Newt Gingrich will stay in the Republican presidential nomination contest despite an expected loss to Mitt Romney in Saturdays Nevada caucuses, the former speaker told The Washington Times late Saturday afternoon.
We had excellent fundraising meetings and calls yesterday, Mr. Gingrich said. Super Tuesday and beyond look good.
The Georgia native thus dispelled rumors circulating in the press that his campaign had scheduled a press conference for late Saturday, after the results were in from the Nevada caucuses.
We will probably be a solid second here with [Rick] Santorum in last place, Mr. Gingrich said, while acknowledging indirectly that attracting donors and voters in sufficient force to overtake Mr. Romney will be a challenge in the coming weeks.

Yes, that's a good point. Romney is the quintessential RINO, almost even more so than McCain, and I think they see him as the validation of their position. He's certain to lose if he gets nominated, but maybe they just want to go down with their ship - because letting Gingrich get nominated and seeing him win would mean the ultimate rejection of RINOism.
Santorum cannot beat Obama and does not even have the meagre charism that some people seem to see in Romney. If Romney gets the nomination, I suspect he’ll be Romney’s VP candidate to win over the social conservatives.
Also, he’ll be no threat to Romney. He shares the same big-government ideas, has an equally unpleasant personality and grating style of speech, and has virtually no accomplishments or record to speak of, so he certainly wouldn’t overshadow Mr. Nobody Romney.
LOL, sure.
because the Romney forces are running an Obama-style media campaign.

I keep thinking they are a little Atwater-ish.
The whole primary system is dysfunctional and I hope, even if nothing else happens, it will be changed after this round.
LMAO, on what planet is this??
I am going to donate to Newt. He is the only one that can beat Obama. Now if Sarah or Col. West should just happen along I would be thrilled.
GO NEWT!!
They used the same trick against Fred Thompson.
Newt needs to be focusing on 3 things only:
1) Romney has no backup plan or compelling reason for running against 0bama should the unemployment figures continue to drop (and the 0bama regime will continue to cook the books to make sure they do.)
2) Attack Romney’s “electability.” A blooper reel of Romney stuttering and flailing, and making cringe-worthy gaffes about firing people and not caring about the poor will do it.
3) Make the case that electing Romney may change parties, but not policies. Bailout will continue under Romney. Deficit spending will continue. Romney has no drive to bring the kind of change that the Tea Parties have been fighting for. If Romney is nominated, then all the work by the Tea Parties for the past 3 years has been squandered.
The only person Santorum could replace is Mr. Rogers.
The Rasmussen planet!
For what it is worth, ppl are tweeting they have confirmation that Mitt's backers and Democrats are funding Paul and Santorum, with expectation that Mitt will lose to Obama. Apparently that is the real objective. ??? who knows but for sure Mitt is a target rich candidate for the Dems. I really do see how he can win, especially since the economy will have greatly improved by then. /s
While I love your enthusiasm, please check your landing gear as your return to planet Earth.
You can’t tell these Santorum folks anything. They are naive enough to think that Rick can hold onto or even expand his 11% if someone started to take him seriously. They can’t admit to themselves that Santorum’s entire support would melt if he had to put up with two hours of what Newt has put up with for two months.
The Rasmussen planet!

Tell me that guy is not getting on your nerves- the establishment’s sycophantic quisling puppet!!!. -:)
I love it how when Rasmussen puts out something that FReepers like, he's suddenly the platinum standard in polling, but when he says something they don't, he's a leftist hack in Soros' pocket.
FWIW, any polling that gauges Obama vs. XXXX Republican in a head to head at this point is completely, absolutely meaningless.
