Newt Gingrich will stay in the Republican presidential nomination contest despite an expected loss to Mitt Romney in Saturdays Nevada caucuses, the former speaker told The Washington Times late Saturday afternoon.
We had excellent fundraising meetings and calls yesterday, Mr. Gingrich said. Super Tuesday and beyond look good.
The Georgia native thus dispelled rumors circulating in the press that his campaign had scheduled a press conference for late Saturday, after the results were in from the Nevada caucuses.
We will probably be a solid second here with [Rick] Santorum in last place, Mr. Gingrich said, while acknowledging indirectly that attracting donors and voters in sufficient force to overtake Mr. Romney will be a challenge in the coming weeks.

Incredible. As I say, Romney has an ego that simply won’t share the stage. Heck, he probably likes the fact that Santorum wears dweeb-sweaters.
Fox starting to post numbers on NV. So far less than 1% reporting, Romney 34 Newt 30
WOO HOO
GO NEWT
I don’t expect Newt to do well in NV ...it’s stuffed with Mormons, for one thing...and Nevadans have a very liberal bent or they wouldn’t have elected Harry Reid all those years. But it would be nice if some of them saw the light.
This is as good a thread as any for live reporting!!
Results for Nevada Republican Caucus (U.S. Presidential Primary)
Feb 04, 2012 (<1% of precincts reporting)
Mitt Romney 34 34.3%
Newt Gingrich 30 30.3%
Ron Paul 18 18.2%
Rick Santorum 17 17.2%
Usually when a politician announces he won’t quit a race, it’s only a matter of a few days or a week before he does.
Santorum is spiting votes. He should leave race, just a spoiler right now.
Didn’t see this posted anywhere or a live thread.

He only announced this because there was a rumor going that his presser this evening was to withdraw...and remember, people are voting today, so a rumor that a candidate is quitting is pretty serious business.
I think he’ll hang in there.
Trying to get job done...computer froze...FYI to make a thread live hit abuse and ask the moderators to do so.
The Red White and Blue super PAC that supports Santorum has two big doners. One of those doners is a guy named Dr. John M. Templeton Jr..
Templeton has close ties to Romney.
“I read that Romney hired Bachmanns debate coach (the one that told her to look like a rabid hyena and go for personal attacks)”
It worked against her. I wanted Bachmann but her constant harpy behavior turned me off. I’m sure many felt that way. I wanted to scream at the tv, “Get back on message!”
She had the best conservative stances of all the candidates, imho. Had she used her air time wisely, she would still be in the race.
I knew there was a skunk in the woodpile. I truly believe Romney and Santorum are working together. There had to be some reason Santorum is hanging in there the way he is and now we know why. He is a lowlife.
Santorum is spiting votes. He should leave race, just a spoiler right now./
That’s exactly what he wants to do.
