The Occupy movement lost one of its most ardent supporters in the media Friday night.
On HBO's Real Time, host Bill Maher surprisingly said of the protesters, "As I watch them on the news now I find myself almost agreeing with Newt Gingrich. Like, you know what - get a job...Now it's just a bunch of [d-bags] who think throwing a chair through the Starbucks window is going to bring on the revolution" (video follows with transcript and commentary, vulgarity warning):
BILL MAHER: Let me ask you about another occupation, because this is - and you would be good on this too, panel -, the occupation, the Occupy Wall Street, because similar to Afghanistan, when you occupy anything for too long people do get pissed off. And as I watch them on the news now I find myself almost agreeing with Newt Gingrich. Like, you know what - get a job. Only because, you know, the people who originally started, I think they went home and now it's just these anarchist stragglers. And this is the problem when you, you know, when your movement involves sleeping over in the park. You wind up attracting the people who were sleeping over in the park anyway.
[Laughter and applause]
MAHER: And I think that's where we are now with the Occupy movement. They did a great job bringing the issue of income and equality to the fore, but now it's just a bunch of douchebags who think throwing a chair through the Starbucks window is going to bring on the revolution.
Truly surprising, especially coming less than two months after Time magazine gushed and fawned over the Occupy movement as it named "The Protester" its Person of the Year.
Makes you wonder if that magazine will come around, and when the rest of the liberal media will recognize that this movement is not what they hoped for.
Stay tuned.
Time to throw the useful idiots under the bus.
Blind broken clock squirrel, finds a right nut twice a day.
good point :)
Nothing more obnoxious than a repented douchebag? But at least he can tell other douchebags.
If I could stand to do I would sign up at sites like DU and sing the praises of OWS as the real democratic movement. Quoting Obama and Pelosi and the whackadoodles on the OWS MOVEMENT frequently.
The planets are aligning. Ann Coulter and Bill Maher used to date. Now Ann Coulter says that RomneyCare is wonderful and conservatives should just shut up and vote for Romney. Bill Maher says that OWS are d-bags who should just shut up and get a job. I predict Ann and Maher will be announcing their engagement sometime this year.
Thanks. I didn’t know that was the actual saying but it makes so much sense and actually makes some other tendencies more revealing as well.
The Obama fascists, of which the hell-bound running dog Maher is one, now seek to do the same to the OWS imbeciles.
Ernst Roehm thought he could control Hitler—Soros thinks he can control Obama.
The scum bag parasites accomplished their mission. |
Rush did an excellent segment on “liberal” rich folks who, for the most part, live and think like conservatives in all things EXCEPT when they are asked their political affiliation. Then they become almost unanimously left-liberal Democrats.
Got to keep the Regime and the media off their backs, so you concoct a stereotypical liberal facade for yourself.
Steve Jobs was in no way a liberal living or acting person but he donated money to libs and played the role for image purposes.
He is a dirtbag.
Amusing but it’s too late. The left gave these idiots enough publicity and money to turn them into a monster they can’t destroy or even get away from.
Repented?That son of a bitch?
It’s quite plausible; Obama’s Ministers of Good News may be asking them to slip away quietly into the night.
It certainly serves the purpose of embarrassing the Rats even as they struggle to look like they’re leading the pseudo parade of phonied up economic good news (meaning a whole bunch of laid off black folks just fell off the end of their unemployment insurance).
OWS is kinda like Kent State. The liberally indoctrinated mass of the unemployable and unemployed are encouraged to stage a protest. Then the communists, socialists, and anarchists show up and commit an act of violence. The hope is to get a violent reaction out of the police or, if present, the National Guard. Then all hell breaks loose, innocent non-participants and the dimwit lemmings get hurt, and the authorities get trashed in the press. The DemocRATs who encourage it, and their accomplices in the willing press get excused, and an attempt is made to blame conservatives. A lot of people who grew up in the 60’s and are now hitting retirement age, have seen this before and know how liberals and progressives behave. It won’t work to blame conservatives for this - especially since there is the Tea Party to compare it to.
Relatively so, of course
Best I can tell, David Axelrod saw an opportunity to underscore an Obozo campaign theme-—”EVIL Wall Street”-—with that slob brigade playing the role of leftist stormtroopers. The framework was already in place with Michael Lerner’s mob in NY-—really an SEIU-inspired bunch-—in place and fired up to go after the financial industry in general and Mitt Romney in particular. The Obama camp was expecting Romney and what better tool to bash him with than a ready-made cadre of filthy communist loons?
It started well for them but the slobs got slobbier and turned violent and the public got real aggravated with them.
The Dems sowed the wind with the Occupy pigs, now they are reaping a whirlwind.
