This is the reason why many qualified men never enter the U.S. military as Chaplains. The govenment controls what they can and can not say or how they can and can not minister.
I retired about 10 years ago. I never had anyone tell me what I could or couldn’t say.
Like I said, that was 10 years ago.
Reading between the lines, I think there is now a huge push to make non-religious events be religion free, and the chaplains are pretty well able to be themselves in their own worship setting.
I do not believe that was the intent behind having chaplains. It certainly wasn’t George Washington’s intent.
