..Mr. Romney has captured the Republican flag and will carry it into battle this Fall. If he loses, those people who believed devoutly that the times require something more than a standard-issue Republican for whom all things political are negotiable and to whom there is no dispute that cannot be settled by compromise those people will be saying, "Never again."
If, on the other hand, Mr. Romney wins, what then? Does anyone expect that when he gets to Washington and starts running the government like a business, entitlements will reform themselves, the deficit will shrivel on its own accord, and Leviathan will shrink to a size where it can be domesticated and housebroken? Has Mr. Romney demonstrated, ever, any convictions regarding the proper size and the rightful powers of the government? Does anyone believe he shares the fear millions feel about government power and their angry indignation at its arrogance and overreach? His overriding sentiment about government seems to be that it would be nice if he were in charge of it so it would be run (all together now) like a business.
In short, does anyone think that Romney will ride into Washington next January determined to tame the town or die trying?
Mr. Romney's aim will almost surely be to take Washington on its own terms and try to "make it work." Whatever anti-Washington sentiments he might express during the campaign, the odds are they will be discarded and forgotten within weeks of his taking the oath of office in a replay of George H. W. Bush and "read my lips." The people who voted for Romney in the belief that he would take on Washington will be patronizingly told by the political class that "Governing is not the same as campaigning."...

yet... for all the bitchin’, pc correct crap coming from the local school boards, come this november, damn near 100% will be reelected in landslides.... voter apathy??? do not give a damn???? or just sheeple.....
I'm so sick of this worship of Thomas Jefferson by so many "conservatives." Why don't these people just admit that they want the Articles of Confederation back and that the Constitution was a "Communist plot?"
Hell no, I’m not a Romney backer but I also see this for what it was—and extremely close election where every vote counted. The mentality here on FR has become the mentality of victimhood. Everyone wants to be a victim. There were no victims in the Iowa caucus. I know you want it to be that way and you won’t be happy without being a victim and you are not listening.
I want you to again read the words of Craig Robinson from today’s theiowarepublican.com. Craig was the one leading the charge to have Strawn removed from his chairmanship. Today’s words make me wonder if he thinks he may have gone too far but, again, here are his words: ‘While Iowa has been put through the ringer recently with the results process, the truth of the matter is that 75 percent of the precincts in Iowa are run flawlessly. The other 24.5 percent of the precincts make tiny errors that are easily caught. The remaining half percent either didnt fill out or lost a piece of paper.”
All ballots were counted, there were some misplaced Form Es. You have access to all the numbers and no one is disputing them.
NO all ballots were not counted. See my article.
And your saying, Hey, if I only cheat, lie and steal 75% of the time, I’m ok. Please ignore the 25% of bad I do. I’m amazed that you are making excuses for romney/gop/.. Winning the first state is BIG. You can make excuses and say your not a romney supporter, but your words say otherwise.
We are not asking for 100% pure conservative candidate, hell 50% would be nice and with Romney you don’t even get that.
tax cuts-not Romney
Pro life-depends on which day of the week it is with Romney
Strict Constitutional judges-see Romneys previous appts.
Gun control-see previous record, not what he says.
Smaller government—see Romneys previous record and listen to his statements, he is a big gov. lib to the core.
And these are just the basic requirements and he can’t meet those and we are supposed to say what the hell screw even our most basic principles of conservatism and AGAIN vote for yet another liberal POS.
It isn’t explicitly black and white. I was attempting to, as briefly as possible, to give examples above of what I meant. Again, it is hard to overstate that when that much power, money and influence is at stake, the lengths to which people will go to in order to obtain and hold onto it. One big reason why we should never let these same folks hold office or take them seriously as candidates after years and years on the scene. That’s the simplistic version, of course. Why we must be eternally vigilant to keep certain individuals and groups from power that threaten to destroy this country who hail from both parties.
Everyone is counting on the primitive bandwagon effect. In this case a $20 million bandwagon. Let’s just keep our heads on straight and refuse to be bamboozled.
Anyone who aspires to understand modern American political cuture must be able to understand “Animal House”.
Which resulted in Abraham Lincoln getting elected without a majority. Or mandate.
Yes, thank you. It's a start.
Have a blessed day.
Remember bloody Thursday.....that should be the battle cry moving forward..
Remember bloody Thursday.....
Maybe it does not matter who wins the White House, it is time to revolt anyway. I say May 2013 the new American Patriot Revolution begins.
Why May 2013? Why not January 20, 2013? Should the GOP “establishment” nominee prevail, how distinct from the staus quo would that be?
"People have a great misconception in this way, they think way they solve things by electing the right people. Its nice to elect the right people, but that isnt the way you solve them. The way you solve things is by making it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right things!"
The dependence is 100% mutual and both sides know it, so it's a win-win partnership that has survived these past 80 years. I don't find any down side to that. We are, after all, co-dependent with many countries. As least the Saudis have proved themselves through thick and thin these past 80 years.
Our military is there, in large numbers, an UNHEARD OF thing in ANY other Arab and/or Muslim country. They trust us because we have proven our trust to them as well.
Those who supported it in the 1800’s very much so desired our education system to be modeled after the Prussian system. And the founders of the Prussian system very publicly proclaimed the above as their ‘mission statement’.
There are actually four pages in your book.
There are the right and the left, as you say... but also the statist and the individualist.
A leftist that thinks everything is best left up to the individual instead of a massive, powerful central government is much easier to tolerate. And for the left, the same goes for a conservative that believes the same.
It’s when politicians expand the size, scope, power, and authority of the central government... that politics gets vicious. As then, you can’t afford to lose - for if you do, you will then be forced to obey the whims of your political enemy.
State GOP Establishments Attack Their Base
Not going after the real enemy.
Across America, state Republican parties and legislators are pursuing the opponents they most despise with renewed vigor.
You would think that the targets of these efforts are President Barack Obama and Democratic Party officeholders who are hell-bent on turning America into a financially broken, post-constitutional, Washington-controlled playground safe only for crony capitalists and regulators gone wild. You would be wrong.
In Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Utah, to name just four, state GOP establishments are laboring mightily to marginalize the millions of constitutional conservatives whose activist energy (but not their outlook) dates back to the beginnings of the Tea Party movement three years ago.

You have a very valid point. Thanks,
I’m going to repeat it...every time a writer says Mitt is It and implies it is over.
Romney cannot under the current scenario and assumptions of support, attain Half the Delegates it takes to win the nomination.
A Gingrich, Santorum, Paul collaboration will put the leading Conservative Delegate holder in as Pres.
