In July 1996, Mitt Romney helped locate the missing teenage daughter of a partner at Bain Capital.

"In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared," the story reads. "She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could – prostitutes, drug addicts – anyone.

"That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, ‘It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die.’

P just say, you are a Romney supporter aren’t you.
K’s question is a good one. What does this story have to do with Romney’s qualifications to be president.
Answer -it doesn’t.

there is a silver lining to this abortion issue...and that is that most of those 80,000 abortions were likely future lefty voters

So you're fine with the brutal murder of 80,000 innocent unborn children because they may or may not grow up to take a different political stance than you?

“A governor is going to get them to ban abortions, or even slow them down ? How ?”

The governors who stand for nothing do just what you said. You identified RINOmney’s problem - he stands for nothing, had to hire a conservative consultant to tell him what to say, and is a fake.

You want to pimp for him, have at it.

You said a mouthful. ANd I agree with all of it. FReepers should stop crucifying Mitt with their keyboards. It’s too easy to throw out vicious language. Instead, let’s get it on the ball — there is still time to get another nominee.

newt’s not dead yet but every decision he makes has me shaking my head. I still prefer Santorum but he needs traction and soon!

It certainly does - its says he’s much better qualified than the guy currently in the office.

It doesn’t say that he is the best possible man for the office, nor even a particularly good one.

I meant, a decent person outside of his liberalness. Liberals are mostly fooled somehow into supporting abortions. It is dead wrong, but I know a lot of “decent” liberals who believe they are doing the right thing by supporting a woman’s “right to choose,” and they don’t realize how wrong, dead dead dead wrong they are. Are they not decent people? They are mistaken people who have trusted their media sources.

Let’s make it easy for you.
The story presented is greatly enhanced, which was unnecessarily as it was a great effort in and of itself.
This event has zero to do with qualifications to be president.
This issue has nothing to do with Romney’s governance.
Romney is a liberal, no different that BHO.
You want to pimp him, be my guest - I do not vote for liberals even if they are in the Republican party.

Geoff, I agree. His ads are vicious and he doesn’t do anything to make them stop. But I meant that he is not the devil as people here characterize him. For Dems, he would be a much better candidate than Obama and he believes all the same stuff. He’s just a regular lib, as far as I can see. Fine for him - we just don’t want him on our ticket!

for starters, Romney has a business background, unlike the FRAUD in the Whitehouse now (who by the way has appointed only 9% of his administration from the private sector - by FAR the lowest private sector repesentation of any US President throughout history)

...and while Romney is not a true conservative, i’ll take him over the teleprompter Commie we have now!

...but you go ahead and teach the GOP a lesson by not voting for Romney in the general election - and thus help Obama win........sometimes you have to hold your nose and vote for your team! (even Clint Eastwood has said as much to disgruntled Republicans)

Well, I am impressed, good job Mitt, it is really something to shut down an entire company and send everyone out looking. Give credit where credit is due, Mitt deserves a “Well Done” here.

I don’t pimp for him.

My concern here is the quality of discourse in conservative circles. Conservatism should be the home of rational, practical and prudent thought and action. This is the heritage of Burke and Russell Kirk, among so many others.

If we have a problem with Romney it should be stated with accuracy, perspective and care. This is not for his sake, but for ours.

No governor in the 50 states is able to stop or even limit abortions on his or her own. Not Palin, not Jindal, not Brewer. If we were to adopt such a standard there are no qualified governors.

I had never heard of this story.

That statement does not pass the smell test.

This story and the one where Romney raised from the dead in that car accident in France are talked about in lds circles. Romney has been groomed for the fulfillment of the white horse prophecy since George Romney wasn't successful in his presidential run.

Romney seems be a good man, bright, able to run things, decent character. I don’t know why he’s a republican but he’s a good person and strong candidate.

Really? Then one has to question what you call good and evil.

When I look at what he has devoted his life to in effecting change on our nation, I see evil.

Can we name any other republican that has reached this level in the GOP who has been as pure evil as Mitt Romney?

Romney is at war with humanity, the fact that off duty, at home, he treats the wife and kids good, means nothing.

Conservatism should be the home of rational, practical and prudent thought and action.

All right. Against my better judgment, I'll bite.

Could you please explain to me -- rationally, practically, and prudently -- why you believe Romney is a conservative?

I promise I'll play nice.

as i said, Romney is not my ideal candidate, but then again we don’t have a Ronaldus Maximus right now do we??

...but come general election time, i sure as hell will not withhold my vote for Romney and thus help Commie Obama win, like you whiners here

...as far as Newt goes, i love how he handled that snake John King on CNN last week - total brillance imo...something Romney is incapable of

So it is enhanced.
It is still interesting and to his credit.

It DOES have to do with those qualifications. This is a genuine example of leadership. The incumbent has not a smidge of this quality.

He is very likely more liberal than I am. So is my wife. I would still vote for her over the local politicians !
And so with Romney.
