With just days to go before Nevada Republicans head to the polls to choose who they want to take on President Obama in November, reality show host Donald Trump is injecting himself into the race and endorsing Newt Gingrich.

Trump's office announced Wednesday that he would make a major announcement Thursday morning in Las Vegas, without providing details of what he would say.

Two sources confirmed to CBS News that the publicity savvy businessman plans to endorse the former House speaker in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Nevada holds its caucus Saturday.

I hope this is true, because it’s what I predicted! I mean, if Trump is as disgusted with BHO as he says, how could he NOT be for a scrapper like Newt? I’ve thought for awhile now that he likes Newt’s style (it’s a lot like his) and outspokenness.

As he’s said before, part of how DT got to where he is, is by being a good reader of people - he sees what a weak, wishy-washy wimp Romney is and he doesn’t respect that.

This also tells us two things - a) he doesn’t think Romney can beat BHO but that Newt can, and b) he doesn’t plan on jumping in on a third party ticket.

Let’s hope his endorsement, along with the others Newt’s received, carries some weight with a number of people (like maybe young voters - he polled well with them).

I never bad-mouthed Donald. I just would have expected him to endorse mittens.

Politics makes strange bedfellows.

“International leaders deal with Trumps business ventures all the time....and he knows how you have to deal with “foreigners” better than most in WAshington...”

OK.

I guess I still don’t see why that matters. International groups don’t vote.

Or is it that Trumps endorsement can mean more campaign money? If so, then I could see why a Trump endorsement would be worth something.

As far as swaying voters, I don’t see it happening.

I am not a fan of Trump. But he can make me smile... RosyO’d was good public theater.

When Romney made his ‘you're fired’ comment in one of the Florida debates, it appeared to me he was attempting to portray himself as being ‘Donald’ like. I just did a search to find the ‘context’, do not want to commit an Abrams/Romney deception. I found the below link and the look on Newt's face is priceless. I found that I was not alone in my perception, not that, that matters.

If this comes to pass, this sets the table for a third party challenge should Romney be nominated. I think more and more that the outrage, anger, and disgust with the current political class will empower a viable conservative third party that will destory the modern Republican Party.

Lindsey and now the Donald. If the way these two have been trashed on FR, including by those who are now pushing Newt, I assume there will be mass disavowment of the endorsements.

Truth should NEVER be trashed nor can truth come from deception. Who knows the motives of Lindsey stating the 'truth', or IF the Donald does in fact endorse Newt. Your ugly is showing.

I’ll believe it’s an endorsement for Newt when I see it. He’s probably going to announce he’s not going to run for president and nothing else. If he was going to endorse anyone why not just come out and do it.

I hadn’t read the whole article before my previous post.

“But he said he would only jump in the race as an independent that if the Republican candidate he likes gets fired by the voters.”

This could be taken a couple of different ways. But for now I’ll choose to interpret it as a threat to the GOP establishment idiots :-)

It’d be great also if his endorsement prior to Nevada gets Newt some needed cash injections!

You underestimate those who like Trump and those he certainly can influence......Common sense says at the very least he will bring with him many who work in the “Trump Empire”. However there is more to this primary than an election.....deals and a whole host of “unseen” bartering is carried on behind the scenes. Trumps good at that.

I’ll believe it when he does it. Right now, I highly doubt it.

“You underestimate those who like Trump and those he certainly can influence”

Well, you may be right about that. But I just can’t wrap my head around someone thinking “Well, I was going to vote for Romney, but now that Trump is for Newt, I am going to vote for Newt.”

But whatever. We should take what we can get I suppose.

“Lindsey and now the Donald.”

Just listening to Graham praising Newt on Greta. Did he actually endorse him? Hard to believe he’d go against his buddy McLame, but if so, I’m pleasantly surprised at his courage in bucking the other RINOs.

Drudge (the detestable man that he is) is trying to plant a seed that Trump will endorse ROMNEY tomorrow, not Newt. Time will tell

I refuse to go to Drudge anymore. Does he have it up as Mitt getting the nod from Trump?

I would be quite surprised that Trump would support Newt.

All endorsements are good

Earlier today, Mitt Romney's dog endorsed Newt Gingrich for President.

The dog scratched something in the dirt with his paws.

Observers weren't sure what it meant, just that it appeared to be 4 mysterious, cryptic letters:

"FUMR!"

"Donald Trump to endorse Newt Gingrich Thursday -- sources"

This is very heartening. I just hope it makes a difference. On a side note, I just sent Sean Hannity a message that would make your ears curl. Damn him. He is in the Romney camp I think, and if he is it's the end of his conservative career. So sad to see him go the way of Fox news just for ratings. I go back a long way with Sean too. I listened to his first radio cast on WZYP in Huntsville when he was totally unknown, and up until now I thought he was nothing but a conservative patriot. My confidence in him has been shaken to the core by his defending Romney. Sighs.

********************************************************** I heard CYA, not exactly endorsement, but he's basically saying that If Newt gets the nomination, he's OK with it. He also admitted that he was in on the coup, and was too green to realize how one had to go about putting together deals that allow policy changes to become law.

The term erratic that has been thrown around actually was some compromises that Newt made in order to get a law that Clinton would sign.

Newt beats what is currently going on on Capitol Hill. 1000 days with out a budget, but Newt got budgets passed with reduced spending to boot.

Dogs are definitely for Newt...cats on the other hand..not so much
