Then they are foolish. Romney supports abortion and always has. His record as Governor is that of an uber-liberal. And he appointed two judges that belonged to homosexual rights groups and that ushered in homosexual “marriage” through the courts.

On a side note, I have a long list of problems with Romney. I will be very disappointed if he is our nominee.

These are not foolish people. Just the opposite; they are very politically aware and some of the finest ladies in the county, who have very astute political instinct. Some have been the stalwarts of the local conservative movement for 30 to 40 years. Moreover, if we ever have a primary down here in Texas, I get the feeling that most will vote for Newt because of the reasons you mention.

To refresh your memory: The topic of the thread is to understand why Newt may lose Florida, not to debate the choices. Here is my rough hypothesis: 50 percent of R primary voters are women. Of that 50 percent, 50 percent are older, married, conservatives (who, among other things, despise adultery and infidelity). Of that second 50 percent, half can get over that repulsion and vote for Newt because of the “best overall candidate” analysis; the other half can’t. Thus, Newt’s past actions are costing him about 12.5 percent of the primary vote.
