In 1980 we were involved in a campaign like this and it was clear that we needed a conservative that was a long way from Jimmy Carter in order to win because you had to show the difference.
And I would argue, we tried a moderate in 1996 and we couldn’t show the difference.
We tried a moderate in 2008 and we couldn’t show the difference.
If we are going to beat Obama, he’s going to have a Billion dollars and almost all of it will be used negatively because he doesn’t have any posistive record to run on.
So he’s gone from yes-we-can to why-we-couldn’t as his theme. So we need to have someone that can show a sharp distinction.
ObamaCare and RomneyCare are about this far apart (shows about one inch.) you can’t make the difference.
Where we are as Conservatives is about this far apart. Obama will not able to hide from the difference...

I heard one estimate that Mitt might have 25% of the early votes, which would correspond to his overall, almost static, support.

Because people in floriduh are stupid. I have been getting Romney ads every day in the mail, sometimes two a day...I never got a Newt ad. Also, Romney is dominating the air waves with that stupid Peter Jennings ad and the “Newt’s only mentioned once in Reagan Book...or whatever it was. People are just stupid. Can’t wait to vote for Newt tomorrow.

The lies I heard Mitt say on F&F this morning were horrendous,don’t know how he gets away with it.

I have had 6 Romney phone calls(all of which i hung up on) here in S.Fla. and the Tom Brokaw spots attacking Newt with false info are endless,sometimes two in one spot break.Supposedly NBC has asked Romney to stop using them but evidently not “aggressively” enough!
