After Gingrich Newt scored a surprise blow-out victory in South Carolina last week, the former Massachusetts governor not only unleashed a political broadside of epic proportions.
"It not about winning here anymore," one Romney staffer told BuzzFeed. "It's about destroying Gingrich and it's working."
After two standout debate performances that put him up 9 points in recent polls, Romney is keeping the pressure on Gingrich, looking to score a blow-out victory of his own here.
To that end, Romney has rolled out a team of surrogates in the Sunshine State to take the fight to Gingrich in person: from Connie Mack (III) and Connie Mack (IV), to Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Sen. John McCain. Romney has also aired a controversial ad featuring Tom Brokaw announcing that Gingrich had been sanctioned by the House.
Today both Macks took the stage before Romney to attack Gingrich's character, proclaiming that he has a checkered past with ethics and honesty."
Romney also launched into his longest attack directed squarely at Gingrich, devoting almost four minutes of his 18 minute stump speech attacking the former Speaker of the House.
"Mr. Speaker, your trouble in Florida is not because the audience is too quiet or too loud or because you have opponents that are tough," Romney said, comparing Gingrich's complaints about debate audiences to Goldilocks. Then, with a broad smile on his face, he listed the reasons why Florida voters are now moving away from Gingrich's campaign.
"Your problem in Florida is that you worked for Freddie Mac at a time when Freddie Mac was not doing the right thing for the American people," he added.
Shortly after Romney's remarks, his campaign emailed "Earth to Newt: Tell The Truth" detailing a long list of alleged lies while mocking his ambitious space agenda.

We didn’t get the Senate, who keeps tabling everything the House sends them. We at least achieved pretty good gridlock compared to the previous 2 years. This year was our chance to get the Senate and a Tea Party-esque President, but Romney is singlehandedly destroying those chances.
I agree. This is the nastiest campaign, or certainly the nastiest primary, that i have ever witnessed. I think back to 2000 when McCain was so upset at Bush for something that happened in SC, i believe; yet that was absolutely nothing compared to what Romney has pulled here. And not just a single low blow, but one after another after another. Reagan’s 11th commandment has given away to Romney’s Attack and Destroy Your Fellow Republican (that is, if he’s a conservative).
What a legacy. What a man. And whatever he is, he’s not a conservative nor is he the Mr. Nice Guy that he had pretended to be for so long. That mask has completely fallen off.
And yes, Romney may well succeed here in Florida but at what price? If he goes on to win it all i don’t care if he puts Bachmann, Rubio, or even Rush Limbaugh on the ticket, for the man at the top is not only NOT conservative but he is thoroughly corrupt and has run a thoroughly contemptible campaign. Just as it wouldn’t have really mattered if Palin were VP to John McCain, for the country would not have been steered any further to the right just because she was his VP, the same would hold true for Romney. Maybe some will fall for it but i doubt many here will forget how he has treated conservatives throughout his run for the White House. So why should we expect that treatment to change should he happen to sit in the Oval Office some day?
For these latest destroy-at-all-cost tactics have only given more weight to what many suspected: that he and his team were behind the negative attacks against conservative candidates throughout the primary, not just the ones aimed more recently at Gingrich. He has crossed over the line. In fact, over many lines. From blatantly false advertising to sending surrogates around to openly mock Gingrich at his own rallies and who knows what else has been done behind the scenes. And as far as Gingrich goes, those nasty attacks have been directed at someone who has done far more to advance conservatism than Romney could ever dream of doing.
Not that he would ever have such dreams.
In short, a couple months ago i thought Romney was at least a decent man even if he wasn’t a true conservative, and i would have fallen in the camp of those who said they wouldn’t like it but come November would hold their nose and vote for Romney if he were the nominee. But not now. No way.
Good for you for doing your homework about Romney and his religion....most couldn't care and for that they have no understanding of what is at stake if Romney gets this....
Not surprised you were shocked..most are when they realize the mormon political agenda has been long time in the works and moving to where we see Romney as their "man of the hour". I had a hard time believing people could actually believe such things until I investigated how they "brainwash" their membership...but moreso who and how the heirarchy operate..... It really is astounding they have managed to dubb everyone...including their membership.
Hats off to you for taking time to look and see for yourself!!!
Romney = Obama (except Romney is whiter and has no convictions). Did I get IBTZ this time?
Right now the RINO bunch are in full “head up arse” mode, but you can bet that if Romney becomes the nominee, Team Obama will be airing out the Magic Underwear!
Unfortunately, that will be too late for the country to have any real choice.
I wish more voters would ignore the “politically correct” position of not vetting religious beliefs. That is a bad mistake, when you consider the agenda of some religions, in this case, Mormon.
... He has crossed over the line. In fact, over many lines. From blatantly false advertising to sending surrogates around to openly mock Gingrich at his own rallies and who knows what else has been done behind the scenes.
.....Not to mention the Democrats supporting Romney in every way behind the scene....if he wins they'll just say they couldn't say anything but were a long time dissatisfied with bambi....and many are...so they are looking for Romney as their man...and supporting him.
.... They know Romney is an airhead and can be manipulated....heck we all see that just from his history and it doesn't take much for him to turn....he's done it his whole life!
Odd. Newt isn’t trying to destroy Romney, just debate on the merits. Romney’s doing it to himself. If he wins Florida with this kind of gutter tactic, he’ll be done in the other 47 states, whether Newt is destroyed or not.
....But bambi's not going to care one way or the other...he's got enough dirt to bury Romney even if he never uses the religious issue I wish our own people would get at Romney's underwear and shake it out.....
Look at the news stories emanating from Florida. The people there are not the sharpest tools in the drawer, it seems.
Willard Romney will never be president. The Democrats will destroy his candidacy with their old Class Warfare meme, knowing that their are millions more welfare voters than millionaires and billionaires. A vote for Romney is a wasted vote.
Newt has been diverted from that attack by those who say its an attack on capitalism nonsense.
Yep, I couldn't agree more. I e-mailed the Newt campaign and SuperPAC this earlier in the week, saying they had to continue with the Bain stuff, but they seem to have given it up. The SC exit polls showed that of the 30% of voters who thought Romney's business experience had an effect on their vote, they ALL voted AGAINST him. Newt successfully turned Bain Capital into a negative for Romney in SC, which was doubly effective because it took away a positive and added a negative at the same time. It's like buying one campaign ad and getting one free. Of all people Rachel Maddow had it right...she said all the people saying no, no, no, don't bring up Bain, don't mention Bain, were revealing that it was Romney's glass jaw. Of course we know the Democrats will kill him with that easily in the general election.
Bottom line, it wasn't so much anything Romney did that brought his poll numbers up this week, it was mistakes by the Newt campaign. They backed off Bain and Newt wasn't any more prepared to defend against criticism of him than Romney was the week before when Bain and his tax returns were brought up. Both of them should have had answers prepared on issues they should have known might have been brought up.
Unfortunately what Newt stepped in on the Fannie/Freddie investment question showed that his opposition research isn't anywhere near as strong as Mitt's. Just like in Iowa, Newt has shied away from giving a robust, clear and consistent defense of the attacks against him, and I don't know why. The average voter assumes you're guilty if you're attacked and don't defend yourself. How does it help to say Romney was involved with Fannie/Freddie when you're attacked for being affiliated with them? Does that both Newt and Mitt guilty of doing something bad? Newt should say he worked for Freddie, what he was trying to accomplish, why he had good intentions, why he may not have had anything to do with the things they did wrong, and at the very least repeat what he said last month about them not taking his advice.
I’ve got to agree with Excellence on this. One man who thinks he is God in the White House has been more than enough.
Given the agenda of the Mormon religion, yes, I do believe Mitt Romney would be worse than Obama. This is not some petty. sour grapes reaction.
The “White Horse” of Mormom teaching is really a horse of a different color, worse than anything we have ever imagined in our worst nightmare. Hope enough people wake up.

Anything changed? Exposed: Scandal of double voters FLorida and NY (68% are Democrats) Some 46,000 New Yorkers are registered to vote in both the city and Florida, a shocking finding that exposes both states to potential abuses that could alter the outcome of elections, a Daily News investigation shows.
Registering in two places is illegal in both states, but the massive snowbird scandal goes undetected because election officials don’t check rolls across state lines.

Until today, I thought Romney would be eaten alive by Obama/Axelrod. But then I read an article about the power of the Mormon Church and Romney being seen as a savior of it (the highest of high priests)...and how the CIA and FBI are now packed with Mormons.
In that vein, have you seen this article on FR...
Mitt and the White Horse Prophecy
Since this is your first ever post and it’s defending Romney, it doesn’t appear you have done anything to earn your posting privileges.
You mean February caucus states? I was considering later states as well.
And not to mention all the corporations, land holdings and such the LDS Organization owns......this is all about the LDS money investing in Romney and they do so thru these organizations .....as well as other areas where their money is funneled.
By the time Americans see this it will be too late...there is a very real reason and purpose why the mormon religion is a closed religion...and called a cult... and not accepted in the Christian community.....it's an empire of wealth, power and this with a poltical agenda.
My guesstimate is if Romney gets this he will usher the USA into the global, universal one world government very quickly......LDS people internationally are already positioned for this.
