The Republican Party of Florida is pushing back on reports that Mitt Romneys campaign stacked the audience at the CNN debate Thursday in Jacksonville with its supporters -- a charge the party blames on aides to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Im sorry if the Newt campaign feels like they didnt have their best night, but I cant allow the RPOF to be the scapegoat for that, spokesman Brian Hughes told NBC News by telephone Friday night.
"We worked very hard, Hughes added. The irony is there were some grumblings by Romneys people in the hours before the debate that we had stacked it for Newt.

Yes, Scott won amazingly as governor of FL, but Crist... now there's an elephant of a different color, ole Cristoforos the true "mans man".
The tolerance of some of this is overwhelming, and a thread throughout the national party, starting with Coulter and the Log Cabins at CPAC. And Gov. Christie of Jersey... and it all links in with the media's agenda on so many levels. Oh yes, and Hollywood too.
Lets see.... Newt has a bad debate performance and the reasons are :
a) The audience was stacked against me
b) I was so stunned my Romney’s lies, I couldn’t adequately respond.
I love Newt, but this sounds like thin-skinned, never take responsibility for anything, Obama excuses.
The debate is just one skirmish in a large battle. The debate won’t determine who wins the nomination.
Newt will live on to fight another day. Move on and lets discuss what they are going to do about the debt, energy, and job creation.
The irony is there were some grumblings by Romneys people in the hours before the debate that we had stacked it for Newt.
Whenever anyone accused of bias trots that horse crap out, you know he’s a lying sack of leper butts.
“I love Newt, but this sounds like thin-skinned, never take responsibility for anything, Obama excuses.”
If you were a moral leper (and I have no reason to think you are), wouldn’t *you* stack a debate audience?
Seems pretty obvious to me.
On Blitzer, he was ready for Newt’s attack. Wasn’t going to let happen what did to King.
If Newt lets a stacked audience get to him, or Romney get to him in a debate. How is he going to handle Obama? Team Obama will be 10x as ruthless as anything Romney can do.
Again, don’t fret too much on the debates. They are not whats going to win or lose this for Newt. He will continue on regardless of what happens in Florida. And that is good. I like it that the republicans are getting all the news cycles. And this spirited primary is making all the candidates better.
How would the Republican Party of Florida -- that all seeing all knowing entity -- even know or take any responsibility for the audience being stacked?
Of course it was STACKED. By Romney operatives. After South Carolina? Get serious.
Obviously the audience was stacked.
“Stream Media meaning the LSM, Mitten and the Establishment are working together.”
I would say rather that they are working separately toward a common goal: getting kamarade Kommissar Mittsky nominated.
If that disaster transpires, the lamestream misleadia will support the demonrats to defeat him in the election.
Before the debate, I was astonished that CNN would allow audience responses. Now, it’s obvious why they did.
I live in Florida and I have seen the GOP in action - the party establishment ALWAYS supports the liberal, and they will stop at nothing to use party resources to do this, regardless of what party members think.
I was watching The Five on FNC Friday and the Dem Left Winger Bob Beckel clearly stated that at such events the Dems would pay people to arrive early and pack the audiences with “their” people to cheer for who they (the DNC) wanted to seem to be the best of the candidates.
I believe that’s exactly what is happening with the RNC-backed Romney in Florida and that is why the polls and media are so crazy.
Newt and his folks know that he wasn't up to par for the debate and have acknowledged it. They noted the incongruity of the standing ovations Mitt was getting, some for pretty lame and incomplete thoughts. Since Mitt is the establishment's guy, I have no doubt they will extend their smears against Newt to covert support of Mitt. "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you".
I have never stated I thought the Speaker had a "bad debate".
That is being propagated by the American Idol crowd, and of course the "poll watchers".
I do not watch television and haven't for decades.
This leaves me unaffected by the sewage the typical American PAYS to have pumped into their homes.
I also trust the American voter, those not standing in line for their "Obammie Check".
I feel he did just fine given the substance.
What are you looking for in these "debates"?
They are at best a charade.
Newt stepped into a room full of hockey and came away without stench.
Nothing to whine about here
Debt: Resolved in short order, if we are serious about it.
