Does Mormonism Scare you? Does the thought of a Mormon US President Romney scare you? READ THIS!

Does the thought of Mitt Romney, a devout Mormon and Mormon leader, becoming President scare you? After reading this testimonial of an ex-Mormon ((http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/richard_packham/why.html)), I am scared of Mitt Romney becoming President. Remember when Barack Obama was seeking the nomination in 2008, his 20 year attendance at Jerimiah Wright's church where radical preaching took place was glossed over by the American public and the press. I say we do not make the same mistake with Mitt Romney and his leadership role in the Mormon Church. In the GOP nominating process, let's explore Mitt's Mormon beliefs. Am I totally off base? Please read the link on the ex-Mormon above!

Dear trisham,

Don't sweat it. I'm having fun with this one, watching him twist and twirl all about.

Dear Timaeus,

LOL. That's almost clever. Very good. “A” for effort.

But as to your analogy, calling Mr. Romney a “senior cleric” of the Mormon tradition isn't like calling a former President of the United States a “senior statesmen,” but rather more like calling the former president of the local homeowners’ association a “senior statesmen,” at least by your non-standard definition. I suppose, though, that there will be folks prone to exaggeration and hyperbole who would go there, too.

Of course, the other obvious logical problem with your formulation is that the better parallelism from "[current] cleric" to "[former but now] senior cleric" would not be "[current] president" to "[former but now] senior statesman," but rather to "[former but now] senior president," which doesn't quite work.

In any event, for folks who belong to highly-structured hierarchical ecclesial communities, “senior cleric” means someone who is a.) currently a cleric; and b.) of a status in the hierarchy at least a little higher up than the first rung or two of the hierarchical ladder. Especially a community with as many rungs as the LDS.

“That you would even care...”

Did you think that was it? That I care what you think? Not quite. I just like reminding myself that I've been delightfully unemployed for over two decades. I hope it lasts. I pray God that it does. I'd hate to get a real job at this point in my life.

Yes, and that would be your bizarro-world interpretation of my simple and true-on-its-face claim in the form of a descriptive epithet--i.e. "senior cleric," similar to senior pastor, or senior coach, or senior fry-cook, because on your world do all these weird associations attach to the simple term "senior"--and you're welcome to whatever delusions you care to entertain as an alibi for your loneliness and despair. Go back to your porn-sites and leave those of us who enjoy thoughtful discourse alone because you're not up to it.

Jeff, do you beleive (as taught by mormonISM) that one day you will be god of your own planet?
Do you beleive (as taught by mormonISM) that Joseph Smith who will be the one to determine your salvation?
Jeff, answer the questions asked, not those that “should have been asked”.
What are you fearful off?
These are just simple yes or no answers on your part. Either you as a committed mormon beleive what is taught or you don’t.

svcw, all the answers you need are in the post at 309 which you replied to, and in the many others I have made.

I have answered these questions in those prior posts and threads. No need to keep hounding me about them. Do your research and look them up.

It is clear that your point and efforts are to marginalize and demonize myself and other members of my faith. Go ahead.

People who get to know the most of us recognize that we are God-fearing people, who love our Savior, Jesus Christ (who by the way I profess as my Savior and the only path to salvation and do so in His name) and try and live as He would live. We look forward to His coming, in God the Father’s time, and seek to raise our families in liberty and freedom, and who, for the very large majority, revere the U.S. Constitution and who raise our families to do the same and I am perfectly content with that without the need to answer to you.

So...if your aim is to marginalize and demonize such people, that’s your choice.

Right now, I have all I can do to help in this election cycle to make it as much as possible a doubling down on 2010 and to ensure that the most constitutional, conservative candidates possible are elected to the state and US House and Senate, and as Governor and President, and at our local levels.

I hope you can help in that cause and we can stand shoulder to shoulder in that effort for the sake of our kids and grandkids...and with eight grandkids currently, it is very dear and critical to me.

So why not lay off the inquisitions and just try and give it a rest? Your choice, but quite frankly I have other issues on my plate that do not include taking bait from you or others whose only desire is to find some kind of “gotcha” moment in their mind that they can use to demonize me and mine.

Read again my post in 309 and conteplate it...and consider this particular post my answer to your future inquiries as well. I’ll book mark it and post it to you each time you ask if that will help.

Just a yes or no will do.
I have “looked” up the answers do you want them? The question is what do you beleive to be true?
Yes, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with conservatives, with GOD (singular) peoples.
mormonISM teaches godS, mormonISM it self is not conservative.
Jeff, please answer the questions, without so many words - yes or no. It really is simple, either you believe with what mormonISM teaches or you don’t.

"So, you are OK with mormonISM. Are you a mormon or just uninformed or both?

Wow this thread just goes on and on...a week later....

No, I'm definitely not a Mormon, I just don't think I should vote against somebody just because I think he's mixed up about the the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But not to fear, my candidate preferences are, in order: Newt-->Santorum--> Romney--> Ron Paul. I will be speaking for Newt at caucus tonight despite the fact that Newt in the past also been quite confused about a few things in his life.

Yea, good for you good luck.
A candidates beliefs are at the core of who they are, I think it is important to know what they are.
For instance mormonISM is not Christianity, they do not subscribe to The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Romney is a liberal because of his mormonISM not in spite of it.
Gingrich is a repentant man, I accept that, which is why at this moment in time I am supporting him.
