The man of the night at the Jan. 26 University of North Florida Republican debate wasnt Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum or Ron Paul in fact, he wasnt even on stage.
Some might say it was Sen. Marco Rubio.
Rubio was favored by three of the four candidates as a Hispanic pick for their administrations with frontrunner Gingrich hinting that he might pick Rubio as his vice president.

But he's clearly wrong about that. I mean, that's not the law in the U.S. as of today. Because even if you buy De Vattal's argument, that still leaves a potential 14th amendment argument.
Let's assume Ramsay's right. As of 1789, you can either be a born as a citizen, of become a citizen after birth. And as of 1789, the only way you could be born a citizen is if both your parents were citizens when you were born. Because De Vattal doesn't recognize jus solis citizenship at all. To him, it doesn't exist.
But it does exist after the 14th Amendment. Now, did the 14th amendment create a third class of citizenship, or did it just modify the meaning of what constituted an NBC, living in place that clause's distinction between those who were citizens at birth, and those who were naturalized?
The 14th Amendment has absolutely nothing to do with natural born Citizenship. Notice that I highlighted the key words of Ramsay's statement:
"The citizenship of no man could be previous to the declaration of independence, and, as a natural right, belongs to none but those who have been born of citizens since the 4th of July, 1776."
You’ve got to be joking!
Anyone running as VP would have to meet the same eligiblity requirements as those for President, otherwise s/he would not be able to serve as President in the event the President dies:
- Must be 35 years old;
- Must be a resident of the United States for the past 14 years;
- A natural born citizen (born in the United States of citizen parents).
I don’t think West will ever debate Biden. Biden will get sick or have another stroke or something. It would just be too cruel and hideous to see; the Dems couldn’t allow it.
But it would certainly be nice to have Colonel West as the v.p.!
Rubio is a romneybot, no thanks.

My actual take on this ‘Rubio rumor’ is simple primary election pandering/energizing/expanding his voting base.
(but you didn’t hear that from me.)
So you think Mark Levin is a liar? Not just wrong apparently, but an actual liar?
You keep trashing the Constitution, you will get what you deserve: a nation in collapse, or more likely, in civil war.
Again, do you believe a very accomplished conservative constitutional scholar like Mark Levin is trashing the constitution?
Civil war? You believe the birther arguments over what constitutes an NBC are going to lead to civil war? Are you suggesting folks like Mark Levin are going to be to blame for this because they don't accept your arguments about Rubio's eligibility?
A golden combo to me.
I corrected myself in post 46
12th ammendment clearly applies.

In post #46, Danae handed you your head on a platter.
Take some advice and stop being silly, as the 12th Amendment DOES NOT apply.
No, there are only two distinct types of citizenship recognized by the United States Constitution. They are Citizens of the United States and Natural Born Citizens.
There are no naturalized citizens. There are no native born citizens. And they are certainly not subsets of each other. They are distinct and succinct. Citizenship is a state of sovereignty. It is not important how one becomes a citizen or a natural born citizen. It is that one is or is not one or the other. You are either born to a citizen father (Natural Born Citizen) or you are not (Citizen of the United States, or not a citizen at all).
My mistake. I corrected myself in post 42, not 46.
12th Ammendment:
“But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States”
It doesn’t get any clearer than that.
Yep. I apologize for my mistake, too.
You ought to try.
I'll tell you this, respectfully; If you could cite a modern 5th grade textbook, used in our schools today, that defines Natural Born Citizen as the child of two citizen parents, this would be a huge coup for the birther movement. Huge! And you'd get to serve a steaming plate of crow to myself and several others on this forum who continue to raise the BS flag whenever such claims are made.
I like my crow steam-fried in a wok with a little bit of tabasco sauce. ;-)
How did I slander Leo Burnweed Donofrio?
I called him a blogger.
Here's Leo Blogging.
I called Leo a part-time musician.
Here's Leo Donofrio playing bass guitar:
And I called Leo an amateur poker player. Apparently, He's pretty good at poker.
Leo Donofrio esq. is supposedly an attorney. I'm trying to find a photo of him arguing an actual case in an actual court of law but I'm coming up empty handed.
Do you have kids? Then I could try to slime you as a baby butt wiper.
Sure! In addition to loading ordnance on U.S. Navy aircraft, I am also a father of two Natural Born Citizen sons. And, yes, they are small. I wipe their baby butts several times a day. It's all good....
Oh give me a flipping break. You are denigrating the man. I got it. We all got it. You got my comeback to it.
He has stated who he is. Go look at his site. http://naturalborncitizen.wordpress.com/2011/11/ It has pictures too!
Read his about page.
“I’m married to a foreign citizen and father to our two sons.”
That explains it. His kids aren’t Natural Born Citizens and he doesn’t like it. He has a dog in the fight.
