Hosted by Wolf Blitzer at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Candidates: Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul.
Word is the audience will be "allowed" to participate.
Everyone thinks that if Newt doesn't have a standing ovation now that he was flat. The truth is he had a good debate, especially on policy issues, but when you have an stacked audience of Romneybots, it's hard to hit it out of the park. When you compare Newt and Romney, there's no comparison as to who is wiser, more knowledgeable and presidential. Regardless of what the talking heads are saying, Santorum damaged Romney tonight. I don't see how they can say with a straight face that Romney had a good night.
The audience was stacked tonight for Romney. Two of my friends tried to get tickets and to avail most of them were already reserved by the RNC. Very fishy. Because did you notice how those dimwits laughed about improving the Interstate while improving the port in South Carolina? Did you catch that slip of the tongue by Romney when he said we did the national health care plan? Oops, guess he meant to say state plan. Of all of the people the elitist could pick, they got this snake and dirty politician. Newt did fine. Under all of the weekly Drudge attacks, he did great. He tried to stay cool when the moderator was asking dumb questions. If a republican votes for Romney and his socialized government health plan, you are asking for that to go nationwide. If Romney can’t win with an honest campaign, he is just another corrupt person. Very angry with the media, we had Clinton, then Bush caved in-now maybe a Mass liberal. I don’t see an improvement with Romney.
Of the original group that was running, Perry was my favorite. I thought he would not only get the nomination, but clean Obama’s clock.
Oh well, in the end, you will vote for the republican nominee or guarantee Obama’s reelection. And that scares me more than electing Paul, Romney, Gingrich, or Santorum. You can have principles and not vote for the republican. But that just ensures Obama wins. And those republicans on the Supreme court are getting pretty old.
I do not know how to do a vanity post. Can you do it?
Hey, I just voted again. Romney and Paul are way ahead of Newt. Guess it is just a site who has people with nothing to do but vote. FYI...I was very good this weekend and only voted once per day.
It’s really difficult to say bray.He had a barrage of BS thrown at him little of which had to do with being president.Hard to deal with for a man of his intellect.
Praying for a BACKFIRE that shows itself on Tuesday!
I agree, Newts supporters (Tea Party) are really pissed off.
I hope they do the same thing in FL as they did in SC.
If you make the mistake of going to the Levin thread like I did earlier and say what you just did...as I did
You will learn quickly some of them are vile...bad as Paulbots
it shocked me to be frank..profanity and utter crassness I don;t think they care as much as we do that Mitt be thwarted..
Were Rick in Newt's shoes the Romney-GOP smear machine would be on him as well...but that fact eludes them
Paul has a difficult time finishing sentences. I don’t know...maybe he doesn’t have complete thoughts. He sure can’t articulate them. He always ends his sentences with “you know”, “then there’s that”, “there’s all of that stuff”, etc......
>> “Mitt had his best debate tonight. Hell make a fine President. Sorry...” <<
.
You’re confusing the IA Straw Poll with the IA Caucuses. Bachmann won the Straw Poll; Santorum won the Caucuses.
Send in the Seals to lock up the Romneyites...lol. O’Reilly comparing Coulter to a conservative who is against Newt. Also, he had Delay on bashing Newt. He calls them right wing conservatives against Newt
I think there is way to much reading between the lines on Rush. Rush has never endorsed anyone. Rush has mocked Romney so don’t try to tell me he is the bag for him. I think what really riled Rush on Newt (as it did me) was when Newt went after Romney’s money. Rush’s big passion is that everyone succeed and don’t envy others success and money. Newt really lost me for a week when he went on the assult of Romney’s weath and out of touch. You can attack Romney on myriad of issues that shows his lack of being a true conservative, Newt played to the press and into their hands when he went down that path. I do believe Rush, like many of us, are torn, we don’t feel especially strongly about any of these candidates. For those that are diehard Newt supporters now, ask yourselves, Sept, October of last year, was Newt your pick for Presidential candidate of Republican party. I would challenge you that there was less then 5-10% of Free Republic posters who would have answered yes to that.
You are so right - living in San Antonio we hear that shit all the time. Normal Texas accented English until we get to a Hispanic Name, and then full-on Mexican! Unreal and so fake.
Sure, RINO’s along with the Republican press, and the liberal MSM/DNC can destroy any Conservative...they do it time and time again. No big accomplishment.
But to beat Obama/DNC/MSM/Academia/Fed/State Bureaucracies...no way, has never happened, will never happen.
The supreme court scares the hell out of me.
Well, many Newt supporters here just know that Santorum is a slimey, big government, petulant, romney stalking horse, non-conservative, pro-labor, lightweight, back-stabbing, socon loser.
So, if Newt says he likes Santorum, that suggests one of three things:
1. Newt is a liar, and doesn't really like Santorum.
2. Newt is a poor judge of character, and doesn't choose his friends wisely,
or
3. Newt knows Santorum a lot better than some of his supporters who are completely deranged when it comes to Santorum.
My money's on #3.
[Best I can figure, Romney is a top-down manager and we the people are his employees,]
That would explain him saying “I can get America right” in his closing statement. Am I the only one who found that insulting?
While the question was his closeness to Reagan politically
He answered the question as if he was asked if he had met Reagan, walked with him and knew him personally by saying "Of course The Speaker was closer to Reagan back then because he was The Speaker."
He's a snake and he's trying to hide his differences between his political beliefs and those of Reagan.
And you are right about what he said in the debate between him and Kennedy. In the video when Kennedy tried to compare him (Romney) to Reaganism, you could see the look on Rommey's face. He was offended to be compared to Reagan.
Romney is further from Reagan than John McCain.
All we have to do is remember Romney's answer to the question: "What have you ever done for the conservative movement?"
He said he got married and started a business. Period.
Heard something today on Hannity that Lunz or whatever his name is from Fox (the focus group dude) is going to conduct a focus group interview WITH the candidates. Only the audience of real people and the candidates will interact.
I think I remember he said they were having a hard time even getting Romney to show up.
Perhaps it will be a great contrast from these canned media circus style debates.
