The Republican candidates' circular firing squad now seems to be using machine guns. Whoever the eventual "last man standing" turns out to be, he may not be standing very tall or very steadily on his feet and he may be a pushover for Barack Obama in the general election, thanks to fellow Republicans.
Whether you are a Democrat, a Republican or an independent, this is a very serious and historically crucial time for the United States of America. What Mitt Romney did or did not do when he was with Bain Capital, or what Newt Gingrich did or did not say to his ex-wife, are things that should be left for the tabloids.
With the economy still faltering and Iran on its way to getting nuclear bombs, surely we can get serious about the issues facing this nation. Or can we?
Mitt Romney's boasts about what he did at Bain Capital are as irrelevant as Newt Gingrich's demagogic attacks on Romney's role there. Romney is not running to become head of Bain Capital.
While Gingrich backed away from his demagoguery about Bain Capital, Romney is continuing to press ahead with his charges that Gingrich was a lobbyist for Freddie Mac.
As someone who has been a consultant, but never a lobbyist, I know the difference.
As a consultant, I have offered advice to people in government and in private organizations, both businesses and nonprofit organizations.

This is the enemy that must be defeated
Not these
Wrong!
Romney’s advisors have given up the ghost. Romney won’t repeal obamacare.
That makes him the enemy!!!
Sorry, I disagree with all due respect. We will unite to beat Obama....
Sarah... where are you? Why is Santorum still in this? Join us...Newt...?
Have you considered Sarah? If not why not? No time to panic yet.... but Why is Santourm still in this?
FIRST, the attacks BEGAN by Romney in 2008, if not earlier.
And it cost the GOP the election.
SECOND,
I pray it's not too late to stop the attacks and band together. We have a common enemy who is destroying this country and this is our last chance to stop him.
Disagree completely. This is a normal primary and will only make Newt stronger for the General. The country already knows what his past is and will have no affect.
Pray for America

BINGO. Most Freepers hated McCain but we all hate Obama now more than we hated McCain so we all did the right thing. They haven’t seen “infighting” until the real fight which are the presidential debates.
As Mark Steyn said yesterday on Rush, we’re going to have a flawed candidate. It’s up to us to drag him across the finish line to win.
Way too many debates too early. I’m already sick of all these guys. I would never vote for Hussein, but if independents are also sick of our guys, who knows? They were stupid in ‘08 and could be again.
I think it was Milton Friedman who said that it's a waste of time to find the perfect candidate; what you do is get the imperfect candidate to do the things you want.
That's not exactly how he put it - I went looking for the quote but couldn't find it.
You are correct, we must unite. On your question why is Santorum still in? Santorum won the Iowa caucus. Romney the NH primary, and Gingrich the SC primary. Shouldn’t you be asking why is Ron Paul still in who hasn’t won anything and is in last place?
This is probably the video you’re looking for.

That’s it! Thanks!

Sowell is absolutely right, and the longer the intramural fighting continues, the already slim chances of defeating Obama fade further.
The “media” has been masterful in corraling voters toward one candidate, then another, then another, as each is then crushed by an onslaught of attacks. What this does is kill voter enthusiasm, and recent polling numbers bear that out. The enthusiasm gap that carried the GOP and TEA Partiers to victory is almost gone.
And the most painful part of that is 0bama could`ve been crushed. Now the hopes of conservatives rest on a foursome that`s more interested in flaying each other. The dems have to be breathing a huge sigh of relief.
what is it about 9% unemployment, $4 gas, +$4 milk, $6 bacon, no economic growth, $110 oil, $5trillion additional spending, Obamacare? that people think is so good that they want more?
