Mrs. Pelosi, like Mr. Gingrich a former speaker of the House, said on CNN this week that a Gingrich presidency will never happen. Asked how she could be so confident, the California Democrat said, without further explanation: Theres something I know.
Mrs. Pelosi, who served on the House Ethics Committee when it reprimanded Mr. Gingrich in 1997, referenced that investigation when she offered up similar comments about Mr. Gingrich last month.
Mr Gingrich challenged Mrs. Pelosi to put up or shut up.

Does anyone really listen to Nancy Pelosi anymore? Time and again, she’s proven herself to be a nutcase.

If Nancy really had something on Newt that would guarantee his loss to Obama, she would have no strategic motive for bringing it up now.

On the other hand, in the event that she’s lying there’s a clear strategic motive to mention it now—she hopes to scare primary voters into not voting for him.
Is there something I’m missing?

If I am incorrect, please educate me, but I was under the assumption that anything heard or said by participants in an Ethics Committee Hearing were bound to refrain from revealing anything that was discussed, much like members of a Grand Jury cannot discuss anything heard or said within the confines of a Grand Jury hearing.
Not that democrats feel compelled to follow the law anyway.

Quinn addressed the nothingness of the so-called 'ethics violation' against Newt this morning on Quinn and Rose.
I'm actually glad this is all being brought up now so that this bogus charge can be dealt with during the primaries and discarded for the general election.
There is no there there, and the sooner the American people know that, the better.

When I turned the TV on this morning, it was on FoxNews. Guess that’s leftover from last night. Newt was on...when asked by the interviewer about Pelosi’s threat, he laughed! Way to go Newt!

I’m convinced that the Dems, the white house and RINO Romney are working with each other to take Newt out as they know he is a threat to the establishment and will fight unlike their man Romney who is another north east liberal.

I think your last sentence pretty well covers it - ONLY Republicans are bound by ethics.

My goal is to go to Washington to change it, not just to get along with the old order.
Oh, how I wish I had more than about 45% confidence that he actually intends to follow through on that... In an article posted on FR (that I can't seem to find again), the author says that Gingrich was unpopular with Republicans when the Dems witch-hunted him because he meant to "stop the gravy train"! Personally, I'm 100% confident that he intends to (can't guarantee success), and 100% confident that Mitt wouldn't!
