"Given all the attention to the ethics matter, it's worth asking what actually happened back in 1995, 1996, and 1997. The Gingrich case was extraordinarily complex, intensely partisan, and driven in no small way by a personal vendetta on the part of one of Gingrich's former political opponents. It received saturation coverage in the press; a database search of major media outlets revealed more than 10,000 references to Gingrich's ethics problems during the six months leading to his reprimand. It ended with a special counsel hired by the House Ethics Committee holding Gingrich to an astonishingly strict standard of behavior, after which Gingrich in essence pled guilty to two minor offenses. Afterwards, the case was referred to the Internal Revenue Service, which conducted an exhaustive investigation into the matter. And then, after it was all over and Gingrich was out of office, the IRS concluded that Gingrich did nothing wrong. After all the struggle, Gingrich was exonerated...."

The media have perfected the technique, and it is in fact formidable.
The beauty (if I may use that word) is that the after affects are long lingering, because it is front loaded, and people's memories are short, and we like our info in small easily digestable pieces.
Witness comments on this very site regards the both of them and their "ethical violations."
lol

I had -NO IDEA- that the Gingrich ethics case was a charge that his “Renewing American Civilization” course, was supposedly partisan political activity, and not a true college course!
I watched that on TV in the 90s! It was an amazing course,, i’d like to see it again. Coulter and Romney can go F themselves. They had to know what this case was about, about the nature of the course, and are STILL using it to smear Newt.
I swear by all thats holy,, i will NEVER vote for Mitt for this one treachery alone. And Horseface Coulter might as well switch teams. Im done with them both. Before this, i was for Newt, but still ABO in the fall if it was Romney. But now,, no Mitt, NO way,,Period. The freakin low life.
Only 12:30AM here. Are you in the UK? LOL.
I dont know if Newt has it in him to admit that he was/is hated for being too clever. Too clever and so likely to let people know that he was the smartest guy in the room. John Adams hated Hamilton for much the same reason. Adams was indeed a better man, but he suffered from envy for a man who was so unlike himself, made Adams feel like someone with two-left feet, and probably responsible for freezing him out of the Washington cabinet. Adams should have known that the Vice-presidency was not for him. Not only was it a mere after-thought of the election process, but it made him the heir-apparent. In Europe, the heir was studiously excluded from the councils of state, least he develop his own party in opposition to the throne. Adams was obviously deeply hurt by his exclusion and blamed hamilton for the plot to deny him re-election in 1792.
It’ll be a vanity.

... famous for playing the dim-witted Cooter in the popular 1980s TV show The Dukes of Hazzard...
And the usual beltway main stream media BS.
Dan Rather began the cBS Evening News by telling viewers that "only now is the evidence of Newt Gingrich's ethics violations and tax problems being disclosed in detail."
The story was much different when Gingrich was exonerated. The Washington Post ran a brief story on page five. The Times ran an equally brief story on page 23. And the evening newscasts of CBS, NBC, and ABC -- which together had devoted hours of coverage to the question of Gingrich's ethics -- did not report the story at all. Not a word."
I also remember at the time that they were giving Gingrich BS about a book he wrote that they said was against the "DC ethics" at the time. About making money off his position in government.
There was a thread posted earlier that gave the number of times the NYT put the “corruption” story on the front page. And then when he was cleared hid it in the middle of the back section....Need to add those facts to your presentation then contact all of us so we can help distribute the information.
Maine-iac has started a NEW Newtron bomb list.
Excellent
My reaction was pretty close to yours. I didn’t take those courses but I remember them and I remember seeing Newt do one of the lectures on CSPAN.
The key point you’re right on about is that Coulter OF ALL PEOPLE knows this! And yet she still chimes in on the slander. Maybe she can add a chapter about what she and he MSM are doing to Newt Iin the next edition of Slander!
Hank
Narcissism does seem to have gone viral. The way things are going 'we' may have to give it is own special category like the perverts did with AIDS.
Or you could say both Newt and Palin got Borked. The conservative media as we know it today, I suspect, only exists because the Democrats invented Borking and used it against its namesake, Clarence Thomas, Newt Gingrich, Ken Starr, Linda Tripp, etc.
If you get the opportunity soon, I want to urge you to read what the Wall Street Insider has to say in his recent interview with the Ulsterman.
WALL STREET INSIDER: California

The comments are particularly enlightening, especilly as more and more nations are conducting international commerce withous using dollars $$. China is now using gold, and this is hugely important.
Might as well be How about “for AM” but I’m reading it now....Am SO angry. We must get the word out to our local papers. The always welcome non-copywritten articles that they can publish. Was it Maine-iak that said she had a back ground in writing and marketing today?
Maybe we could all gather the research here on FR and let her go at it.
The Gingrich case was extraordinarily complex, intensely partisan, and driven in no small way by a personal vendetta on the part of one of Gingrich's former political opponents.
No. It wasn't partisan, it was just portrayed by the meida that way. The GOP elites allied themselves with their like-minded statist dems to take Newt down.
And they're trying to do it again. Will we let them succeed? All that is at stake is our nation...
Jim can place it any where he wants to. And if it’s what we are all wanting and needing to support Newt I’m sure he’ll agree to place it in ACTIVISM.
Let’s go for it freepers.
Let us know what further research you need done.
I hate when pubbies step down for stupid reasons.
See Delay, Trent Lott, ect.
Onyx, were you on the thread last night where all the ol timers and kids of ol timers that lived in Florida were discussing the use of the internet and how the members of nursing homes etc sent out emails and forward articles to each other all day?
We need to tap into it.
Get some of those freeper names in Florida to get it started.AND then spread it across the nation through email lists
YES, maine-iac7, marketing and writing.
You will never get up with your rooster today, hoosiermama, unless you’re planning to stay up all night!
