Newt Gingrich's decision today to bash Mitt Romney for hiring former Charlie Crist loyalists and employees doesn't seem to be sitting well with Sen. Marco Rubio, who drove Crist out of the Republican Party before beating him at the polls in 2010.
Said Rubio: "Mitt Romney is no Charlie Crist. Romney is a conservative. and he was one of the first national Republican leaders to endorse me. He came to Florida, campaigned hard for me, and made a real difference in my race."
Good, then keep him seeing voters had no play in it. Too clueless that romney has been roaming around looking for conservatives to support - so he would have their support on his intended run for president.
It must s**k to be a clueless politician and be played by a con man because he gave you candy.
I’m willing to let this one go, Marco. I have hope in people like you. If that’s what you truly believe, so be it...but it won’t change my mind. Mitt Romney is not my candidate.
Somebody must be spiking that Miami cocaine with LSD. Rubio can say all the nice things he wants about Mittens, since Mittens apparently helped him out, but don't lie.
Mittens has no core convictions. Mittens is currently playing a "conservative" to try to get the GOP nomination, the same way he played "liberal" to get elected in Massholechusetts. The guy is the ultimate wind sock. Nobody really has any clue what Mittens truly believes. It looks to me like Mittens just wants to be President, and he'll say anything.
That was an endorsement, whether you want to call it that or not. Look up the word. Rubio endorsed Romney without question.
You betcha there is...
Newt Gingrich has done more to put Ronald Reagan’s conservative policies into government practice than anyone else presently running for the Republican Party presidential nominee position.
So what’s your beefs?
You've found me out.
I've been shilling for Hugo Chavez all this time. I had no choice; the Che took too long coming back to life.
Oh goodie, another moonbat birther self-outed.
I guess you're against Santorum too; his daddy was born in Italy.
I’ve always thought of Rubio as overrated.
Sad. But predictable.
Some of you can ignore political realities if you want to - due to your abject hatred of Romney. As for me, I fully understand that endorsements by elected officials of other officials is not a kind of purity test. There are personal relationships and favors and all kinds of other human realities that go into the calculation that we know nothing of. Just like in every other walk of life or business.
I am working, professionally, to defeat Romney right now. My anti Romney cred nor my pro tea party cred or pro Sarah Palin cred or anti establishment cannot be questioned intelligently. So while I am disappointed that Rubio and Romney have this kind of working relationship, that does not mean I am going to make my judgement of Marco Rubio based on this.
Face it, every politician you have ever supported has likely done some things for other politicians that you despised. Just like every person you do business with has done business with people you despise.
Just as in my investment strategy, I never put all of my eggs in one basket, but diversify and have a back up plan. I also do not go on ships that don’t have some kind of functioning lifeboats and safety jackets aboard, too. That is just plain common sense.
Funny, I thought Sarah Palin and the TEA party came to his aid long before Mittens. Yet, he was sure quick to plaster Mitt’s face all over his website when he was running. Putting Mitt on his website and his slam against Arizona’s illegal alien law almost cost him the election. Right after those two things happened, his high poll numbers dropped. He spent the rest of the election praying the democrat didn’t drop out and support the independent Crist.
I don’t endorse Newt either but I’m sure not going to give Rubio a pass. There is only one excuse for his running with RINOs — he is one.
I just looked it up. Palin came out for Rubio April 12, 2010. The “me too” Romney-come-lately endorsed Rubio some days later — April 17, 2010.
Rubio’s people got the primary moved up so that Romney could get coronated early. I wonder how that’s working out for them.
This is totally different than the Republican Presidential ticket turning on itself and dominating the national news and showing itself as broken, cynical, fake, and making it seem a darn good thing that Obama won, preventing the huge gains we made in 2010, and it would all have been for nothing since Senator McCain was sure not going to lose his election. Palin drove us to an historical sweep.
Rubio is merely trying to get Mitt Romney into the White House, by defeating the conservative who is the leading candidate.
Not quite true. Romney was a Johnny come lately in supporting Rubio. He waited for Sarah Palin and the TEA party to support Rubio before he had the courage to support him.
And yes, Rubio is a RINO. He has always been a stealth RINO. That is the way they run.
I don't know how you get around the fact that Marco Rubio essentially just told a bald faced lie about Romney being a conservative. Flat out lying to my face is something that I refuse to abide in a politician.
Even worse, is ignorance. If Rubio doesn't understand that Romney has never been anywhere close to a conservative in his life, then he's a loose cannon and ideologically untethered, and will probably do lasting damage to the conservative cause.
In one sense, my support goes to the theory of America. If you convince me that Daffy Duck is the best defense for the Constitution, he would be my candidate.
As long as his parents became U.S. Citizens before his birth, he is a natural born Citizen.
The 2010 conservative sweep would never have happened if the 2008 Republican Presidential candidate, and vice-Presidential candidate had turned on each other, the media and the left would have killed us in 2010 and it would have legitimized the people choosing the more stable, rational, Obama, if our ticket was revealed to be a bitter sham.
Marco Rubio did not tell a flat out lie. It’s called political rhetoric and grown ups can understand context. And, outside the world of Free Republic, where Marco spoke, Mitt is considered at least somewhat conservative. Compared to Charlie Crist, Mitt probably is conservative. Context context context.
Reagan, Palin, and everybody you have ever heard of have made an endorsement or at least a nice statement about folks you can’t stand.
Even a prostitute was given the honor by God of being the first person to see the Risen Christ. In that context, I will not shame Rubio for this.
