Marco Rubio: Mitt Romney is no Charlie Crist
Tampa Bay Times ^ | 1-24-12 | Marc Caputo

Posted on 01/24/2012 4:14:48 PM PST by Anti-Hillary

Newt Gingrich's decision today to bash Mitt Romney for hiring former Charlie Crist loyalists and employees doesn't seem to be sitting well with Sen. Marco Rubio, who drove Crist out of the Republican Party before beating him at the polls in 2010.

Said Rubio: "Mitt Romney is no Charlie Crist. Romney is a conservative. and he was one of the first national Republican leaders to endorse me. He came to Florida, campaigned hard for me, and made a real difference in my race."

Willard is a conservative what? A conservative Mormon? Is that one who does or does not believe in polygamy and segregation? I forget. A conservative dresser? He has his suits tailored for him, but not by designers? A conservative driver? He tells his chauffeur to drive the speed limit?

LOL!! Very good!

“Even a prostitute was given the honor by God of being the first person to see the Risen Christ.”

A former prostitute. A repentant and forgiven -former- prostitute.

Just for the record.

Oh, it’s your officious self-important tone I suppose. Or just the fact that jackasses annoy me.

Which part of “totally repudiate Romney” seems to disagree with you?

“At least Rove and others put their PAC’s to use and campaigned for conservative candidates?”

I remember that. But Mike Castle lost.

"He came to Florida, campaigned hard for me, and made a real difference in my race."

Good, then keep him seeing voters had no play in it. Too clueless that romney has been roaming around looking for conservatives to support - so he would have their support on his intended run for president.

It must s**k to be a clueless politician and be played by a con man because he gave you candy.

Gaahhh!! I didn't think of that! GOOD POINT, pnsn!

Dear Newt,
You’re in front now.
Act like it and go after Obama!
That is your one and only job for the next 9 months!
Defending yourself or attacking Mitt are wastes of time!

Great advice. My feelings exactly. Newt needs to pound & pummel 0dumb0shit like he is our worst enemy...whicn in this case, 0dumb0 is our worst enemy for our nation. I hope Newt beats the sh_t out of 0dumb0 every day!

“I believe I speak for most, if not all freepers when I say, we don’t hate Romney, but we hate his politics, we hate the attempt to manipulate us into voting for him, we hate the dishonesty of the GOP in pushing him...”

Good post. Hopefully it will be considered ‘grown up’ enough to explain your principled position to accomodationists.

For the record though, I -do- detest Romney, who strikes me as being every bit the predatory narcissist and sociopath that Obama is. Obama is poison, and that is boldly marked on the label. Romney too is poison, but the label has been marked “WHOLESOME!”, and the bottle left in the refrigerator.

Go back and see the post to which I was responding. Then go take a look at the title of this thread. Those are two big clues. I’m glad I could help.

He did turn out that way. Sadly, Dick Armee has as well. I prefer to remember them all from when they were on their ‘A’ games.

Most politicians seem to lose their way when they miss that cardinal direction we all crave: to the greatest extent possible, get the hell out of our lives and give freedom a chance.

Appears to me that Rubio isn’t happy seeing his chance to be Romney’s VP slip away.

“The point is that compromising principle in exchange for popularity is a destructive vice. Conservatism is good for everyone. We should seek to educate those willing to learn but there’s no need to “sell” our policies. They are patently good and we should treat them as such.”

I totally agree with your main point. Still, the ideas of limited government and personal freedom should be presented often, and in as accessible and palatable way as possible without losing the message.

Among several vital things that were lost the day Reagan left office, were our efforts to persuade people over to our side, rather than just bash them as liberals.

I guess you're against Santorum too; his daddy was born in Italy.

It doesn't matter where his dad was born if he was a US citizen at the time of Santorum's birth. I don't know if his father was or wasn't one at the time of his birth but that is the issue. I don't think that both Rubio's parents were citizens at the time of his birth.

Marco Rubio did not tell a flat out lie. It’s called political rhetoric and grown ups can ... etc., etc.

There's another kind of rhetoric: the condescending kind that casts one person as the "grown up" and the other -- Windflier, in this case -- as the child. I remember back in '07 and '08, Romney supporters to a tee called those who disagreed with them "childish" whereas of course, Romney's side represented the "grownups."

It's a crappy rhetorical tactic no matter which side is using it. Here's the deal, C. Edmund --

We're ALL grown-ups here. Talking down to those you disagree with doesn't make you "an adult." It only makes you a pill.

Ack. Dick Armey turned out to be even worse, a real hater of social conservatives. Last I saw of Dick Armey he was trying to co-opt the TEA Party to make sure it didn’t come out in opposition to illegal aliens and amnesty.

” I prefer to remember them all from when they were on their ‘A’ games.”

Or at least when we still thought they HAD an A game.

One never really knows what lies in the heart of another. That is why when marrying, or choosing someone for President, do lots of research. Then commend yourself to God and commit.

Really, that is all one can do.

Marco Rubio did not tell a flat out lie. It’s called political rhetoric and grown ups can understand context.

Good lord. That's as fraudulent a statement as any liberal has ever said to me.

May I remind you that words have meanings, and that even brain dead liberals realize that the word conservative has certain connotations, and stands for things that most adults recognize as being wholly apart from liberalism?

Political rhetoric? Try political mumbo-jumbo, also known as FLAT OUT LYING.

outside the world of Free Republic, where Marco spoke, Mitt is considered at least somewhat conservative. Compared to Charlie Crist, Mitt probably is conservative.

By who? Teenagers with iPods glued to their heads?

Mitt can't be considered a conservative even in comparison to Barack Hussein Obama, for crying out loud. Check their records, and you'll find almost no daylight between them. Just why in the hell do you think the Free Republic community and the ENTIRE patriotic right is so overwhelmingly determined to keep him from winning the Republican nomination?

Have you lost complete track of your senses, man???

“Or at least when we still thought they HAD an A game.”

The Reagan impetus kept them going in the right direction for a while. Then kinder, gentler entropy happened.

In some ways I am kind of excited. We are sort of back where we were in 1979. On the one hand we are more destitute and all of our cushion has been consumed. On the other hand the liberal pipe dream has been attempted and enacted in ways Carter never could. It stands there waiting to be toppled over for a long, long time.

If only people would quit trying to sabotage the opportunity by sticking us with Romney.
