Id work to get Tea Party people elected, but Id take Bush to Obama.Hell, I'm getting to the point I'd about take Fidel or Chairman Mao to Obama. At least they're honest about their Marxism.

I understand what you are saying, but I doubt that the majority of those that pull the R handle do.
I don't think it would fly today with the Internet and 24/7 cable news.

The "Establishment" doesn't care what "we the people" want--they have their base of power and they sure as heck don't want Newt to bring it down around them.
At least that's what I get from all the talk of "panic" amongst the Rinos and the "old guard".
Romney doesn't scare them at all--he is "one of their own".
That Newt is NOT has its best case made--not by Newt--but by the establishment's acting so scared of him that they are looking for a "new" candidate, and using the "Newt can't win" meme to cover their fear.

Wrong choice. Americans have an aversion to the Bush name and Texas politicians at the moment. Obama won because Conservatives refused to vote for McCain the moderate, which is what Jeb is.
He will not draw the kind of excitement to pull people out of their chairs and feel passionate about their countries future.

Newt is not going to be the nominee. We are not going to pick someone who loses to Obama by 15 points and costs us both houses of Congress.
To: Beagle8U
People will accept a brokered convention if no candidate goes there with a clear or near majority of the delegates. That's a real possibility. It happened in 1976 with Ford vs. Reagan.
However, they will not accept a brokered convention if there is a clear front runner with the majority of the delegates. Even though I think Newt is a poor choice as a standard bearer, I will support and vote for him if he gets a majority of the delegates. The Karl Roves of the GOP have a duty to do likewise. This isn't Christine O'Donnell and one Senate seat at stake.

If the GOP establishment’s goal is to break the spirit of their conservative base, than this is the way to go. I predict if they do, they lose in a landslide. The MSM meme will be how they ignored the will of their imbecile voters. They will have very little grassroots support and zero base motivation and that is the most important thing going into an election.

Mitchell’s married to Alan Greenspan so, yeah, if she says she knows what the GOP elites are thinking, I’d trust her.
Maybe the GOP is going to create some all-powerful “super delegates.”
Has anyone analyzed what Newt’s path to the nomination might be free and clear, winning a majority of delegates? Any analysis would have to account for which states are proportional and which are winner-take-all. The fact that a lot of states were switched to proportional this time means the contest might go on longer and it’s less likely a candidate will get a majority of delegates this time.
Who exactly is in charge of decisions like switching the delegates to proportional? Was it Michael Steele? Reince Preibus or other guys in the smoky backroom?

After Fla there will only be 2 candidates left, unless you could Paul who will win nothing.
Newt or Romney will have a majority of the delegates, my guess is Newt.

“We are not going to pick someone who loses to Obama by 15 points and costs us both houses of Congress.”
That's the real fear of the GOP Establishment. If it was confident that Newt would beat Obama and ensure that both houses of Congress would have Republican majorities, the Establishment would ignore Newt's recent transformation into a self-proclaimed Tea Party, anti-elite rebel and back him to the hilt.

They should at least wait until after Super Tuesday, which is March 6, 2012.

Didnt Andrea pose for the After picture for the Faces of Meth campaign?
Rofl! Homely doesn’t improve by losing down to 1% body fat! Otherwise men would be looking at skeletons for porn. She looks like she would be good for scaring crows out of the corn.

Besides the "Mitt Is Electable" argument, the one I hear most is "Mitt Won't Lose The House And Senate" argument. Both of those arguments seem strange to me. If Mitt is electable, why doesn't he win more elections? And if you want to elect a bunch of Republicans to congress, wouldn't the first person you'd call be Newt Gingrich?
Newt actually did orchestrate the Republican takeover of 1994. Even if he doesn't win the presidency, I could see him coming up with a solid Republican platform which would nationalize the down-ticket elections and sweep a bunch of reform-minded conservatives into office.
The pro-Romney crowd also likes to chime that "with Mitt the election will be about Obama, but with Newt it will be all about Newt". This also seems wrong to me. In every Mitt Romney election, Mitt Romney himself is a major issue. Whereas, Newt is generally about big ideas and governing philosophy.
