That's the real fear of the GOP Establishment. If it was confident that Newt would beat Obama and ensure that both houses of Congress would have Republican majorities, the Establishment would ignore Newt's recent transformation into a self-proclaimed Tea Party, anti-elite rebel and back him to the hilt.
I'm not sure that they would. They are fighting Newt too much. Maybe he knows where all the skeletons are buried and they surely don't want them to come to light.

I think this is only part of it. The real fear, IMO, is that Gingrich would actually shake things up. The R Establishment is pretty comfy and doesn’t want things shaken up.
No, they wouldn’t. They are happy as pigs in slop with the status quo. They all sleep in the same frikkin’ barnyard with the gate wide open. They don’t leave because they LIKE it there.
