During Monday nights The Ed Show, host Ed Schultz took on former House Speaker Newt Gingrichs penchant for vilifying President Obama with the coded language of racism. During the panel segment, Salons Joan Walsh summed Gingrich up in easily-deciphered fashion, telling Schultz that Newt is the face of the politics of resentment and racism and angry white male rage that led voters to vote against their own economic interests.
Schultz began the segment with a clip of Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) telling CNN, Newt Gingrich is throwing red meat to the base, saying little words and phrases that we are very familiar here in the South. Im saying hes appealing to an element in this party that will see President Obama as different from all other presidents that we have had.

A simple twist of the expected response.
There needs to be lots of rage, and not just from white males.
People, wake up. The race card shows the evil and desperation of those who seek to destroy you.
How DARE they!!!!
LOL!
I'm kind of hoping that Newt's "kick ass and take down the names" philosophy catches on with other pols.
Frankly, I'm sick of watching conservatives say, "Mr News Interviewer, I ever-so-slightly disagree with your position, and I'm very very very sorry for that.", then go into a long winded apology for all transgressions, real AND imagined.
Nope, I like Newt. Forthright and direct. "No, you're wrong. And that's an offensive question to ask, as well." Refreshing to have a politician who calls a spade a spade.
The only real racists that I know are all Democrats.
Unfortunately, most of them are my in-laws.
In that case, I’ll continue to “vote against my own interests.”
I had the opportunity as a government employee to see the ‘Delphi Technique’ being used many times. I could sense what was going on with the facilitator(s) who presented themselves to be just discussion organizers. It was quite easy to discern that these ‘facilitators’ were nothing more than shills for someone or some project to get into the public’s money.
I agree. I think Gingrich’s surge really does showcase conservative weariness with the pusillanimous behavior of the Republican Party, and the smoldering resentment conservatives feel about their treatment by a media completely dominated by the left.
Why SHOULDN’T the producers in this country be angry?
What reason have they NOT to be angry?
I remember Alley Oop and you are right on with the comparison.
I have broken the code and it is racist. Obama is white, well at least as white as black, and most people on food stamps are white so the conclusion is obvious. It is racist against white people!
Wow, dude. You know all the super secrets.
Petruchio’s Barometer:
The more the unified media whine, complain, attack, defame, and all around backstab a candidate . . . the better that candidate would be for the Nation.
So far Newt is lookin’ pretty good.
just sayin’
It’s good that they get to recycle all their old scripts from 1994, at least. It’s a green solution!
Worn out, overused, and predictable. People are just tired of hearing this garbage and it is not going to work this time.
I wish you all that you wish me.
Can any one post these coded words that they are speaking about?
Yeah? So what.
I’m already brilliant.
