Because he is the ONLY one who has EVER successfully NATIONALIZED an Election(1994). Even Reagan didn't/couldn't do it. In 2010 the Tea Party Nationalized THAT election.

Just hope that whoever becomes our nominee will go after The Kenyan with as much ferocity as they are waging against each other.

Piss off douchebag.

Uncalled for IMHO. Don't sink to that level would be my advice.

If there were a Reagan -- a California governor who was unquestioned leader of a confident conservative movement -- it's hard to imagine people in such a movement not supporting such a governor

The question wasn't about people "in the movement" supporting him, it was about the RINO elites supporting him. They are not part of any known "conservative movement," just a good ol' boys pork-trading, crony capitalism society.

Gingrich was a successful Speaker of the House who worked with a Democrat-controlled executive branch. "Popular" is an irrelevant question ever since the leftist media inventing Borking and gave themselves the ability to destroy anyone they didn't like, although today that's limited to independents and liberals since the conservatives have managed to find their own media in the last 15 years.

Well, they burned Sarah Palin’s church with the congregation still inside it, and there was hardly a word written...

Well, Coulter, Romney and the others on their side are specifically bashing Newt as being unelectable for saying that Obama held “Kenyan, Anti-Colonial views,” calling him a socialist, and sucn. The not-so-deep, dark secret is that the RINOs SYMPATHIZE with Obama and his policies, which is why they instinctively recoil when he is attacked in a semi-insulting way. It’s classic political correctness, as Newt nailed it last week. You’re not supposed to speak uncomfortable truths around elites, libs, leftists and RINOs.

Since Newt’s term paper was written on education in the Congo, I’d say that if any politician other than Obama has what it takes to speak authoritatively on the Kenyan viewpoint, it’s Newt.

If Murkowski could beat Joe Miller with write-ins, why can’t Newt win in VA?

You're right.

No one speaks of the 1994 Revolution. It was an enormous accomplishment by Newt.

Great point US Navy Vet.

@RC One

"I think their offended…"
Exactly, the very thought that you and I can vet a candidate better than Rove is preposterous!

So you want to settle for another milquetoast RINO.

Right now we’re in need of a firebrand that can rally the voters. Since Sarah isn’t going to do it, Newt has stepped in to do the job for the American people. We’ve had enough of the Bob Dole, John McCain wing handing elections to democrats, thank you very much.

Exactly, Newt is the MAN warts and all.

What would be interesting is a repost of threads about Newt last spring when he got in the race. I think most of the people who support Newt now, including me, bashed him relentlessly and said he had no chance and that he should just go away. Amazing how things change in politics.

Conservatives constantly get bashed with loaded questions, unfair assumptions, and flatiout lies.

What they amount to are questions with flat out accusations woven into the question as if they are facts. They do it constantly and it is sickening.

Newt should air footage from those primaries.
It should be enough to either make you puke, vote Newt, go to BFE or kill yourself.

C'mon. Coulter, Will, Lowry, Ponnoru, Lowry, Christie, Steyne, Krauthammer. I don't know who you're talking about but nowadays when people here talk about a "Republican establishment" or RINOs the people they're talking about are people who gave their talents to the conservative movement for years.

The old WASP Rockefeller Republican elites are long gone and crony capitalists will support anybody, even Newt. The people getting kicked around as the "Establishment" here are just conservatives who had success in Washington, and they probably would support a Reagan if there were one out there.

"Popular" is an irrelevant question ever since the leftist media inventing Borking and gave themselves the ability to destroy anyone they didn't like, although today that's limited to independents and liberals since the conservatives have managed to find their own media in the last 15 years.

The emphasis isn't so much on "popular." It's on "Governor." Reagan was governor of our largest state. He'd had to craft budgets and administer agencies. He had to work with people of different points of view to get things done. He was the guy who lost last time. He was the logical candidate of the party. Find a candidate like that and we'll see who supports him and who doesn't.

But my point was that comparisons like yours really don't serve much purpose except to attack people you disagree with.

And Newt isn't from the "Bob Dole wing" of the party?

Things change pretty quickly in politics. A year ago, a lot of these criticism could have been made of Newt himself. Maybe the same will be true a year from now.
