Because he is the ONLY one who has EVER successfully NATIONALIZED an Election(1994). Even Reagan didn't/couldn't do it. In 2010 the Tea Party Nationalized THAT election.

I think you’re right. These political guys are not stupid. They know the one Alinsky-ite tactic that still almost always works and fools the public every time is to come out and say the exact opposite of what they’re really thinking.

In this case, the new message is that Newt Gingrich’s nomination will cause us to lose seats in the House and Senate. However, we already know from reporting such as Jonah Goldberg’s Newtzilla to the Rescue article that they have admitted privately that they’re afraid Newt WILL BEAT OBAMA. Which makes it totally illogical that Newt would beat Obama, yet lose congressional seats in the process.

So I think you’re right. They are actually afraid the Republicans will get such a large majority with Newt that they won’t be able to “play both sides” against each other, i.e. the Dems and the RINOs. Newt will have a wide Congressional that owes him their seats and will be able to accomplish the kind of revolutionary reform that he and the Palins have been demanding.

If Newt’s a RINO, then Reagan was a RINO, no two ways about it.

Virginia, so far, is the only state he and Santorum are not on the ballot. Please let me know if there are more.

If newt was unable to get on the ballot in some states, how is Daniels going to get on the ballot in any states? Its too late for a newcomer.

Nonsense. When the GOP establishment is involved, it's ABN (anybody but Newt). Any and ALL newcomers are allowed, as long as they are not named "Newt". It's their ABN club!

And, it's been done before with those that bear unusual names, as well:

FDR? LBJ?

Nationalizing the election was a great achievement -- gotta give Newt that.

But look at how he let it all slip away. There's still a lot of ill-feeling towards him from people who were on the scene at the time.

It’d hard to believe Mitch would be electable against Obama. I don’t see how we beat Obama without a true attention-grabber like Newt. Otherwise the media is just going to gravitate to media darling Obama and you’ll have a repeat of 2008.

I think their offended at the thought of someone other than them picking our President. They’re smarter than us unwashed plebeian types ya know so we should all just shut up and vote for who they tell us to vote for.

The current crop of RINO elitists would reject Ronald Reagan himself for Romney or Mitch Daniels. They SO need to be shown the door.

though, he has to know after SC that he has to stand for the concerns of conservatism and not go bumbling around for kudos from the left

If Mr. Gingrich is willing to fight the leftists, every day, on everything ... for two full terms ...

1) He will actually be elected to those two full terms

2) He will greatly alter (for the better) the political landscape in these United States.

We will need a Standard Bearer who can and will go DEEP into the Ballot and pull winners with him!

If you listen to Rush Limbaugh he has been arguing the point that the Elites Within the Republican Party (The EWRPs) are convinced that Romney will do a better of job of pulling in Senate and House winners than Newt.

I believe that Rush actually believes that the elites are thinking this way. But I'm at a loss to understand what makes them think so. Mushy headed liberals demotivate the base and true conservatives bring out the troops on election day. That's a big plus for Gingrich. That can't be it.

What else is left but those holy "Independents". Do the GOP Elites really think that those "Independents" will be so turned off by Newt that they will pull the D lever in the House and Senate races. I guess that is what they are thinking.

Oh yes, one other strong possibility: The GOP masters like being the minority so they don't have to take any responsibility for the mess we are in.

They should read the exit polls for SC and, when they are available, the FL exit polls. In SC Newt won in ever demographic category except $200,000 income level types against the RINO. Take that you EWRPs.

Newt didn’t get on the Missouri primary, but it’s non-binding and the binding caucus comes later. Too bad though, because it would have been good publicity in the middle of the long stretch towards Super Tuesday, a stretch which is packed with RINO-friendly blue states. Newt really has to win Florida in order for his momentum to survive through some probable Romney wins.

Bottom line, on balance, Newt has spent at least 90% of his life fighting leftists and RINOs and winning most of the times that it counted. The Pelosi climate change ad is so out of context in his career that it must have been a “senior moment.”

Reagan was a RINO. He gave amnesty to the illegals, cut and ran from Lebanon, and raised taxes.

Jesus Himself was a RINO. He associated with prostitutes and befriended tax collectors.

See how it works? NO ONE is good enough.

Yeah I had to shut Medved off after he realized he had kicked off a 3-hour “Mitt Romney-approved” infomercial. He continues to push the “electability” argument despite Romney not even being able to win over Republican voters in 2 out of 3 states. Every caller I heard call in disagreed with him on Romney being a good choice.

Dennis Prager seemed discouraged but resigned to the fact that Newt was the frontrunner now and seemed to have all the momentum to win the nomination. He got one caller who had clearly been programmed by the “conservative media” about Mitt, but had changed her mind. She said the thought he was “electable” and that Newt had “too much baggage” but said she changed her mind after seeing the “fire in the belly” Newt had last week.

Looks like the only fire Mitt’s cooking up in Florida is one to roast Newt on a spit. I’m sure like McCain, he would never be this tough on Obama, for fear of offending “moderates.” RINOs don’t attack their own kind after all.

The current crop of RINO elitists would reject Ronald Reagan himself for Romney or Mitch Daniels.

Pointless comparison.

If there were a Reagan -- a California governor who was unquestioned leader of a confident conservative movement -- it's hard to imagine people in such a movement not supporting such a governor, pretty much by definition.

But there isn't such a candidate (or such a conservative movement) this year. Times change and the older options aren't available, so people make do with what's available.

Might as well say that you guys would pass up Reagan -- a popular big-state governor who managed to work with a Democrat-controlled legislature -- for someone like Gingrich or whoever provided, he irritated the right people.

Jesus also went in a church once and wrecked up the place. The tabloids would’ve had a field day with that one.

Medved's problem is that he's a trained debater, and knows what the rules are for grading debates. I've done it, they're esoteric, and Gingrich isn't playing by those rules. Medved's miffed that a brawler is being given credit as a "debater".

But he's wrong. Conservatives constantly get bashed with loaded questions, unfair assumptions, and flatiout lies. And you don't really get a minute to grab peoples' attention before launching into a 6 minute response in front of judges who will pay attention because that's you're job when judging debates.

Newt understands that the first 15 seconds of what you say is more important than everything else. If you don't hold their interest then, you've lost people. So he grabs attention with a hard answer, and then launches into a more thorough, reasoned explanation.

But it's not a style that appeals to more civilized guys like Medved.
