Gingrich hates the media, right? He unloaded on John King at the Charleston debate for raising this issue of his ex-wife's allegations, blasting the "destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media". In Myrtle Beach, he slapped Juan Williams down for asking a race-based question.
And the media despises Newt, right? He's so sarcastic and condescending towards us, brands us as elite liberals and uses us to whip up the Republican base.
Actually, wrong and wrong.
Gingrich loves the press...

It ain’t about Newt vs. Mitt or FoxNews vs. CNN. It’s about the media trying to milk as much money from all the campaigns as possible. For them and their ratings, there’s nothing better than a long drawn-out fight with lots and lots of time being purchased. Operation Chaos II and I’m supposed to get energized? Pfffttt.... Sorry, seen it before. The party that self-destructs the least, wins.
WOW - Trump on F’nF. He is praising Newt and you should see the expressions on Kilmeade’s and Carlson’s faces. Doocey asking decent questions.
So GRetchen says - doesn’t Romney’s cool, calm & collected demeanor help.
What a tanker she is!!!!
It actually reminds me of the revelation about the past competition in the movie "Strictly Ballroom". Come to think about it, there are a lot of parallels - and our political system is very much like a dance.
Barry Fife: There are no new steps!
Barry Fife: Where do you think we'd be if everyone went around making up their own steps?
Scott: Out of a job.
Barry Fife: Well, of course, you can dance any steps you like! But that doesn't mean you'll...WIN...
Doug Hastings: We had the chance but we were scared. We walked away. WE LIVED OUR LIVES IN FEAR!
If you have not seen the movie, my apologies (but I highly recommend seeing it). If you have, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's about the "system", to preserve the status quo, squashes anything that does not bow to their unwritten authority. And even those that eventually succumb to the pressure lose anyway. Divergence from the company line shall not be tolerated. And the "company" is the democrat/republican dance. It takes two to tango.
Establishment Republicans should be taking notes instead of turning their knives on Gingrich. For this is how you deal with the media. You expose their biases by hitting back when they hit you. If enough Republicans were to do this, it might finally force the media to back off, to become defensive rather than always going on the offensive.
It's high time to let Republicans know they should worry more about currying our favor instead of the media's, instead of always cowering before them or trying to win their love by turning tail to the left. And in my opinion the best way to do this is to keep voting for Gingrich, keep sending a loud and clear signal that this is who we want Republicans to emulate when it comes to taking on Obama and his many cohorts in the media. And if they do, we'll reward them by showing up and voting for them in droves. But if they don't, we just might not bother to keep showing up.
Does this explain Reagan’s success? His “love affair” with the media? Yeah, I saw that every time he got into it with Sam Donaldson.
Newt is like Larry Byrd, mixing it up with the black guys and beating them.
Newt is waaaay better than Mitt for sound bites and follow up stories.
So yeah, they love Newt, just like they love a tornado or a hurricane or anything that will entice someone to listen to them, watch them or read them.
Strictly Ballroom. Is it out now? Looks interesting ...
Mitt looked so smarmy with that superior look on his face, going after Newt while we wait for him to release his hidden tax records and his hidden gubanatorial records. He's a puke!
Bingo. A Newt presidency would be SOOO much more interesting than Mitt in there everyday. They know it, down deep ... in fact, I think a lot of them are already secretely rooting for him.
We have it on DVD. It’s a sleeper, and one of our favorites. It’s an Austrailian film crammed with satire, emotion and beauty. It is part of the “red curtain trilogy”.
