New Jersey Governor Chris Christie appeared on Meet the Press today to do damage control for Mitt Romney and to explain why Newt Gingrich would not be an ideal Republican nominee despite his strong victory in South Carolina last night. He claimed that Gingrichs past actions have embarrassed the Republican party, and Mitt Romney was more suited to be the nominee because of his record and how he conducted himself in office as opposed to Gingrich.
David Gregory asked Christie to explain what about Newt Gingrichs politics or his character disqualified him from being the Republican nominee against President Obama. Christie suggested that Gingrich was too much like Obama, and we dont need another legislator in the Oval Office. He reminded Gregory that Obama jumped directly from a position as a legislator to the presidency, making the argument that executive experience was vitally important for the next president to draw a stark contrast with how Obama has governed.

s the start of a true anti-establishment, meaning anti-RHINO, rout
I haven't completely abandoned Romney but he will need to show me he repudiates utterly the North Eastern Elites and everything they stand for.
OUCH! LOL
Someone upthread said that he sees the VP slot slipping away. That would make sense.
No, Scott Garrett is a Conservative by NJ standards, Chris Christie is your typical RINO!
Megyn Kelly
The ability of Barak Obama to win election over the Republican doyens is the defining embarrassment of our times.
All who side with them now risk electoral lynching at the hands of furious conservative Republicans.
Ultimately, being called “racist” is not as shameful as the ignominy of what race-baiters will make you bow down before to avoid it.
He can’t fit in a golf cart.
“Christie suggested that Gingrich was too much like Obama, and we dont need another legislator in the Oval Office.
What a laugh that is and a ridiculous statement. I would say Romney Care and Obama Care is too much like Obama. Newt has never done anything legislatively like Obama has. Come on Christie I hope you are better than that. That was pretty lame.

Steyn is the anti-RINO. Newt Gingrich would do well to listen to his concerns.
Are these numbskulls blind and not see what happened to John McCain in the last election? Romney is just as bad or worse!
Is there really any question if Romney gets nominated Obama will have a second term?

What?! Is he insane?
Christie does look like the guy who ate all the pie stores in Boston doesn’t he.
Hey Christie! Maybe if you ran, instead of sticking up to Mr. Plasticman, you would have led your RINO wing to victory. But you decided to stay home and now all you can do is just sit there and watch Newt because Mitt just doesn’t have what it takes.
Christie is morbidly obese. I think he weighs around 400 pounds.
Hey, Chris, Ann Coulter will be right over to rub your feet.
Good point. The young folks may not be as familiar with old Nelson...
