Who is the leader of the Not-Romney movement within todays GOP?
Is it Newt Gingrich, whose surge in the South Carolina opinion polls puts him within striking distance of front-runner Mitt in tomorrows vote?
Is it Ron Paul, whose dedicated core of hard-money but isolationist supporters gives him 15 to 20% in every Republican contest?
Or is it Rick Santorum, recently endorsed by a raft of Christian evangelical leaders?
For my dollar, the leader is Sarah Palin, whose endorsements continue to carry more weight among conservatives than any other national figure and who is well-positioned to play a king-making role in the 2012 elections similar to her Mama Grizzly performance guiding the Republican surge in 2010.
How did this happen? Shes not running. Shes in Alaska. Since declaring herself a non-candidate at the beginning of October, Mrs. Palin has kept a pretty low profile.
Until recently, her main contribution to the political discourse was castigation of Congressional insider trading,a practice exposed by one of her SarahPac advisors, Hudson Institute fellow Peter Schweitzer, in a new book called Throw Them All Out. That expose gave rise to competing Congressional reform bills, the best of which would make it illegal for Federal legislators to routinely do what Raj Rajaratnam.
Before that, at a much-noted speech to Iowa Tea Partiers back in August, Mrs. Palin the political wordsmith injected crony capitalism into the public discussion. That phrase has captured the corrupt connivance between Big Business and Big Government which challenged the anti-business protestations of the Occupy crowd....

Sarah returned to Alaska after McCain’s defeat to serve out her term as governor. She had passed a law making legislators personally responsible for legal fees in ethics accusations. The left filed a lawsuit every week and she and her staff could do nothing more than comply with subpoenas. She was $500,000 in debt. So she bowed out to save the state and save he family by writing her first book.
Please explain to all of us how someone “dropped out of the race” who was never a declared candidate. By that standard I, too, dropped out. Your Palinoia drives you people to say the craziest stuff.
But that is not the issue. The issue is the fact that palin did not show the courage to get in the race...you can't change that fact. She has made a good living on the sidelines though.
I know you like her and I respect you... so I’ll leave it there friend.

I don't think so.
There is a trust factor involved...you vote for whom you think will push your agenda and trust that that person will stay the course.
Palin has created an image of one who does not stay the course. She did this by quitting in Alaska and by stringing her followers along for months and months only to cash out and stay on the sidelines.
I'm not so sure that her 'legions; of former supporters would be over-whelmingly ready to climb on her bus one more time.
Newt worries me a little because he’s a little incorrigible but that can be a good thing too. For sure his brilliance in speaking is our best shot at getting the independents to realize how far down the left hole Obama has taken us.
Seems to me Romney’s advantage is that he probably wouldn’t piss off the independents who want something more mild - and that’s Romney, mild.
Santorum bugs me for some reason. I just don’t think he’s ready, doesn’t have the gravitas - of course he’d be WAYY better than what we’ve got.
If I could pick the POTUS without interference from idiots I’d pick Sarah.
The media, as well as the Republican establishment, will now begin to focus on Mr. Newt's “negatives” and his style of leadership from 15 years ago. Mr. Newt has changed, he is wiser, happier, wealthier, and content to jump into this craziness because he believes he can make a real contribution with his experience and commitment to this county. How can we bring him down? It has already begun on FoxNews. I don't watch the others enough to be objective, however, I am sure that they will do Obama’s lifting for him, because he is going to be a hurtin puppy after Mr. Newt follows him around for a couple of weeks.
Mr. Newt broke the “inevitable” bubble the media and Republican establishment have been shoving at us for months. The People are now speaking and we do not want Mitt Romney or any other RINO this time.
NOTE: If your associates are following this thread, tell Mr. Newt that he has so many positives, so many good ideas, go much depth of knowledge, he now needs to focus the Florida campaign on the striking differences and rise above the temptation to allow his passion to overtake his reason and just look mean. Show them the new and improved Newt. I have been married 40 years, and my husband is still a work in progress.
God Bless Mr. Newt...we have your back!
Yeah, she can lead all the way into the kitchen.
Oh, wait.. maybe just halfway there.
No sandwiches for us, you betcha.
btt
I agree. Sarah would make an excellent Secretary of Energy.
From the the sheer stupidy and absurdity of that post, you can obviously lead all the way to the far left, Crazyland.
No sandwiches for us, you betcha.”
No crazy pills for ya. You betcha.
Umm..when did she enter the race then? (before “dropping out” of it as you put it)
Yeah, you’re right. All those contributions she collected while she was never in the race were for lunch money. Nice scam.
Ummm.... what contri butions. Are those, Mr Clownface? You can’t collect campaign contributions if you are not in a race. If you are talking about her PAC, the full audited accounts are regularly published for anyone to see.
What more infantile nonsense you got to spew out?
Nikki Haley agrees.
Keeping the whole stash for yourself?
hey jack ass, are you denying that people were making contributions to her (her PAC if you feel better about it)expecting her to declare?
I suspect you are right. Sarah is more effective as a power-broker and conservative opinion leader than as a candidate.
Listen fool, it just so happens to be prefectly legal for PAC’s to collect money, as long as they operate within the rules. Sarah Palin”s PAC has operated entirely within the law. Better trolls from the lamestream media than you have tried to find something inappropriate, and come up with nothing.
Now. why don’t you crawl back to the insane asylum you just escaped from?
