Jim:

Are the 6 or 10 Ron Paul supporters who periodically post on FR *really* that much of a threat? Any new Ron Paul supporter who posts on this site is already zotted in short order. That leaves a handful of long term FReepers who for whatever reason have chosen to support Ron Paul. My reasons are largely philosophical, but also practical. I’m a Virginian. I have two choices: Ron Paul or mitt.

There is no need for a bug zapper thread; you could count out the remaining number of Ron Paul supporters on FR on your fingers and ban us in less time than it takes to put together a post.

As for Newt Gingrich, I have better things to do than make his candidacy my reason for getting up in the morning. As I’ve said before, I would pick him any day of the week and twice on Sunday over mitt romney. That said, I think he is a very poor candidate. He has more baggage than samsonite, has an unfortunate knack for gaffes, and has little on the ground organization. What organization Team Newt does have seems to be unable to get it’s act straight. One recent example: our radio airwaves are full of expensive ads arguing that Newt Gingrich is the true conservative in the race. But this is in Virginia, where Newt isn’t even on the primary ballot.

Newt’s debating skills are of course legendary. But no one has explained why barky would be dumb enough to agree to a series of debates should Newt be the nominee.

Newt could do a great job of unifying the 30%-40% of the population who already agrees with him politically. What about the other 60%-70% that isn’t already inclined to support him? Yes, Newt Gingrich might be another Ronald Reagan. Just another Ronald Reagan without the personal morals, organization, or the ability to keep his foot out of his mouth.

This is your website and you’re of course free to ban anyone you want for any reason or no reason at all. The theme of the website is your choice as well. At one time FR was known as a place where conservatives of pretty much any stripe could (hotly) debate issues. That’s what attracted me and why I’m still here, thousands of posts later.

Is your vision for FR a place where only conservatives who buy into your particular (and constantly evolving) view of conservatism are welcome? If so, then it **is** time for me to move on. I guess I’ll know if I’m still allowed to post here tomorrow. I don’t expect to be. So let me thank you for allowing me to post here for so many years. I’ve enjoyed it and wish you the best.

Darksheare: I suspect that this is probably my opus. If so, please send my FRegards to the UT. I’ll miss you and the rest of the UT.

Does Virginia allow write-ins?

And are you telling me you *want* Iran to have nukes (which means a limited nuclear war in the Middle East at least, if not dispersion of nukes to terrorists worldwide)?

Cheers!
