Amid news that Newt Gingrichs ex-wife Mariannes interview with ABC will air tonight, a political veteran who has had past ties to Gingrich, reminds me that the former Mrs. Gingrich has long opposed his running for president.
I think it matters that shes been saying this shit for years and has been doing things to tweak him for years, said this source.
This is actually true.
As the New York Post reminds us today:
In 1995, when Vanity Fair magazine asked Marianne what would happen if Newt ran for president, she boasted she could derail the bid with a single TV interview.
He cant do it without me, she said.
I told him if Im not in agreement, fine, its easy.
I just go on the air the next day, and I undermine everything . . . I dont want him to be president, and I dont think he should be.
Theres always been a real almost like a jealousy issue with her, my source adds. She likes attention. And shes very bitter. And this is behavior of someone who likes attention and is very bitter.
I agree with almost everything you've said. It would have been better if Newt had not been unfaithful - sexually - and if she had not been unfaithful - spiritually. Neither of them upheld the highest or even the minimum standards of a good marriage.
If we were voting for 'husband of the year' - I wouldn't vote for Newt. But that's not what we're voting for....
I feel more anger toward the press - a group that would NEVER trash a democrat for anything even like this - or anything a thousand times worse.
It's time to pull the right of the MSM to decide that conservative candidates MUST be pure as the driven snow. While dems can wallow in whatever filth and corruption they can find...
Like you I would crawl over broken glass to vote for Newt over Obama... Like you, I wish for a better world...
I have a humorous friend who one day joked and said things like this is why you hear stories about men putting their wives in wood chippers rather than getting a divorce. My take is, the Jerry Springer show was created just for her.
We are not voting for a saint, we are voting for the politician who will challenge the guy who is fully intent upon destroying this country. I want someone nominated who can take him out (politically speaking, of course), not some hyper-moral milquetoast who will lose. We tried that route with Carter after the mess of Watergate and associated scandals - how'd that work out for us? Seems to me that we're STILL dealing with the consequences of people in 1976 not voting with their heads, but with their hearts - Iran comes to mind.
The Perfect is the enemy of the Good.
That said, I certainly feel more comfortable that Newt has had enough humility to publicly state, on more than one occasion, that he did wrong, was sorry, and was walking the correct path now. Remember, we humans are purposely designed to be imperfect - our job is to improve ourselves, not to be perfect since that is impossible.
gee, she would go out the next day and UNDERMINE him??? No WONDER they are divorced. She can’t keep a secret either. Not GOOD in a political spouse!
Yes, it will be seen for what it is...and Drudge is nothing more than a media whore type for trying to make this sound like a big deal. How ridiculous.
I agree!!
The following quote tells more about her then it does about him: “Newt Gingrich met Marianne Ginther in 1981 at a fund-raiser. She was 30. She had just broken up with a married man and father of three whom she had dated for some time. ...”
Interesting...
Christians are not without sin. There is always redemption and forgiveness though not always reconciliation.
Our charming 'press' would have sat on it forever if a picture hadn't appeared. Edwards really WAS a cad - and his wife was sick and died. Gingrich's mistakes are still with us - and talking... and whining and bullying and....

Need I continue?
