Amid news that Newt Gingrichs ex-wife Mariannes interview with ABC will air tonight, a political veteran who has had past ties to Gingrich, reminds me that the former Mrs. Gingrich has long opposed his running for president.
I think it matters that shes been saying this shit for years and has been doing things to tweak him for years, said this source.
This is actually true.
As the New York Post reminds us today:
In 1995, when Vanity Fair magazine asked Marianne what would happen if Newt ran for president, she boasted she could derail the bid with a single TV interview.
He cant do it without me, she said.
I told him if Im not in agreement, fine, its easy.
I just go on the air the next day, and I undermine everything . . . I dont want him to be president, and I dont think he should be.
Theres always been a real almost like a jealousy issue with her, my source adds. She likes attention. And shes very bitter. And this is behavior of someone who likes attention and is very bitter.
Their marriage was rather tumultuous. They were separated for 6 years between 1987 and 1994:

Noticed a detail. Her story is first thing that happened was Newt called her and said “I want a divorce”. She then asked is there somebody else.
Therefore, all the other nonsense about “sharing” him etc. appears to have been the back and forth that went on when she would not agree to a divorce. It appears Newt was direct with her and tried to simply request a divorce.
Guilty!
Eeeek! She defines guilty.
Let’s not forget that Newt married Marianne. Extremely poor judgement on his part. But once he married her, his duty was to remain faithful. If she was crazy enough or mean enough that he did not want to be married to her, he should have left her.
It was wrong for Newt to find a new partner while still married to Marianne. I believe that Newt has stated publicly that he has made many mistakes and he is sorry for them. It is our job to make a judgement about whether or not he is sincere is saying that he was wrong, has repented, received forgiveness from God and people where he could and has grown as a person. To be honest, the jury is still out for me. I am an agnostic about Newt who will have to decide when it is time to vote in the primary in my state.
All that being said, Marianne would have been better served to let it go and to keep her mouth shut. And I would crawl over broken glass to vote for Newt over 0bama.
Also read her brilliant reason for doing this (again).
Says she heard something said negative about her by someone on a radio program.
So she decided to start giving interviews so that Newt can’t depict her as an evil person, which she says is what was happening.
Does that make any sense? Is it just possible she’s a creep?

She doesn't seem to mind being in the spotlight now...
The w*tch seems to be a control freak - a liar (about the spotlight thing) and a mean one ...
Not to beat up on the mean, bitter and angry--but she also has the face and eyes of a heavy drinker.
Hope it turns out badly for ABC, too.
—She was cheating with him when he was married to his first wife.—
I hear it’s hardest for “tweeners”.
I’m confused. When Bill Clinton had affairs, harrassed women, etc...Repubs were told it was his personal life and had nothing to do with politics.
OK. so why does it matter with Newt and Cain?
(I notice X Mrs Newt is quite, unfortunately-looking)
Open marriage or divorce while hiding another woman on the scene is not for a good line of communications to remain open. Husbands have suffered far worse injury for the same actions. Newt has stated he was young and foolish then. It is what it is.
But the Kennedy's had an open marriage, and no one really knew then through a 24/7 media; and still later after the movies, miniseries, books etc made no difference to those who loved "their image of".
The media can now be just viewed like the old Inquirer, Star etc or those tabloid papers at the check-out, you read on the surface as was just too ashamed to buy.
On the other hand, I caught late at night, the Oprah interview rerun with Christie and family; and found it quite good in comparison to how most are presented, like a typical a studio setting for a Walters interview. The NJ setting was especially good, showed a real family with real lives, "the kitchen", the chores the kids hate, daughter's Facebook issue on privacy til perhaps 16, his ongoing battle with weight, but now has a trainer; and why he responds as he does to statements he says are only disguised as questions. How he could never work for anyone and laughed it couldn't happen as VP. He continues on that he is not going anywhere. One family plus point as President would mean his son would not have to empty the dishwasher anymore--people are hired to do that. But although Mrs Christie could see them in the WH, the kids were not so sure and didnt want to move. Age can change that, and they are getting older. Warm, humorous and effective. Came off well.
Newt does not give off those warm and fuzzy family feelings like Christie, but doesn't mean he would not be a good Commander-in-chief to do the job required.
“but she also has the face and eyes of a heavy drinker.”
No doubt. She looks like a hagged out drunk.
However, I am going to be voting for Newt on Saturday. All I ask is that he doesn't get Callista out to campaign for him. Yuck. I cannot stand the looks of her.
I haven't heard Newt mention Marianne by name in any of his appearences in YEARS. How could he depict her as evil, if he hasn't even talked about her?
