Gingrich to HUMAN EVENTS: 'I have a game plan to win after South Carolina'
Human Events ^ | 1/18/12 | John Gizzi

Should Newt Gingrich turn in a strong showing in the South Carolina primary Saturday and his rivals for the conservative vote drop out of the GOP presidential race, the former House speaker feels confident he can draw a sharp contrast with front-runner Mitt Romney and win their party’s nomination for President this year.

“I have a game plan to win after South Carolina,” said Gingrich, who spoke to HUMAN EVENTS Wednesday morning between campaign stops in the Palmetto State. While freely admitting he is “totally focused on winning South Carolina,” Gingrich echoed the view of Florida campaign chairman Bill McCollum that he can defeat Romney in that state’s primary January 31st.

Newt has gotten my attention lately because it seems he has started to fight for the prize.

He’ll definitely be able to defeat Romney here in Florida if either Ron Paul or the others drop out. The fact that Romney has at most 38% means that there’s more than 60% who don’t want him. But that 60% is very split. In Florida polls, Gingrich has the largest share of it (followed by Paul, then by Santorum and then by Perry).

You know Obama is going to try to run as a moderate because we are suppose to forget he tried to shove health care down are throats and spend trillions. Now he is conservaitve on spending. Many people will believe it because we all have convienent short memories. My memory goes back a long time

Ron Paul will never drop out. He knows that he can’t win (not that he’ll say it), but he continues nonetheless. This is either: 1) Pure ego; or 2) he simply wants to draw attention to libertarian ideas.

As for the rest, if Perry and Santorum drop out, then I would bet that 75% of their voters will go for Newt. I think that a Perry withdrawal is in the cards no later than Florida, as I’m sure that he doesn’t want to face a big defeat in his home state.

With Ron Paul, I think it’s pure ego. And I think he will stay through Florida and then drop out.

The problem with having Perry and Santorum hang around to is that if they’re in it, the sane conservative vote is going to be very divided, whereas all the RINO and Dem vote will go for Romney (with some but not much of it probably going to Ron Paul). In any case, if Florida is regarded as the watershed, that means that the winner here carries off the big prize and the rest of the primaries are just for show.

That said, by having its primary early, Florida lost half of its electoral votes at the convention. So maybe Florida will not be the do or die moment. I don’t know, I’m just offering some thoughts.

What is his game plan to win the Virginia and Missouri primaries?

I hope the plan involves using the new information that Romney made money from the disposal of aborted babies bodies!

Huffington Post nice source. You read that source of good information after Mother Jones and NY Times. Think Newt mentioned NY Times as a source in his debate before last. Guess you guys read same stuff.

I’m from Missouri and like Newt said it is nothing but beauty contest. Missouri delegates will be decided at the state convention. Virginia, well that’s behind us.
