Why is charitable giving a bad thing?

Because you didn’t give it to the Democrats to support their efforts. Now if he’d given the same $$$ to support them he’d be wonderful and the MSM wouldn’t have a problem with him

BayNative, charitable giving is not a bad thing, and being committed enough to it to include your time and talents speaks even better of the individual.

God bless you for your integrity.

The thinly veiled bigotry going on by a number of posters a FR is saddening.

I pray most can see past it and vote on principle. I am not supporting Romney, even though I am LDS. He has had simply too many “changes of heart” on too many critical issues for him to be anywhere near my first choice.

Newt, Perry or Santorum would all make outstanding conservative Presidents, particularly if we deliver them a Tea Party orientd House and Senate.

But, should Romney be the nominee, I will vote for him and feel he will stick to what he is promising now...repeal ObamaCare, Cap the Federal Spending, push for a Balanced Budget Amendment, push for and nominate judges who will overturn Roe v Wade, lower taxes, significantly shrink government and burdensome regulations, and keep our military powerful and the strongest on earth.

We will get none of that from Obama and these people’s claims that Romney is as bad as or worse than Obama are simply incredulous to me.

I will do nothing that in any way helps the marxist Obama retain the presidency.

I hope a Newt or Perry emerges and wins...but if necessary, I will vote for Romeny.

Again, thanks for your integrity.

You will probably receive incoming flack as a result from these people...but that’s okay...that such people with such views will take issue with your principled stand is a mark of honor in my book.

Sincerely,

Jeff

Oh...so when the Hare Krishnas used to hit up people at airports, I assume you were a frequent "charitable" giver then?

Or if every drunk hits you up for alcohol $, you supply it?

It's called basic "discernment" that you try to give in ways that doesn't make the world and the afterlife a worst place than it already can be for certain people.

Even if we begin to take Mormons at their word on the Mormon afterlife, there's at least three Mormon afterlife things that they tend not to overly stress when meeting ignorant Gentiles:

(1) For many Mormons, the Mormon afterlife will include polygamy;
(2) For all non-Mormons, and more than 80% of Mormons (those Mormons who are single or don't have temple recommends), they won't live forever with the Mormon heavenly Father...no matter how "merciful" the Mormon heavenly Father may be. [For the Mormon, Mormon covenants and memberships and TRs are everything essential]
(3) That same exclusive Mormon group in #2...well, they become grown-up gods...having been...like Mitt Romney...an embyronic god on planet Earth. And they get to run their own planet.

So...if you think giving to say...oh, Scientology...is a good thing...well, Hey, L. Ron Hubbard had nothing on Joseph Smith as a religious scam artist. (And Hubbard admitted that the reason he shifted from sci-fi writing to starting his own sci-fi 'novel'-like religion is because there was more $ in it!)
