It's 10 pm. It's Martin Luther King Day. You're in the South. A packed auditorium is deathly quiet. A large national TV audience is watching. The electoral stakes are sky-high. You are sweating on behalf of your favorite candidate. Then an African-American journalist calls your guy's name -- and asks a racially tinged "gotcha" question.
OH NO! Hit the mute button. Take a beer break. I can't bear to watch! Why do we let liberals moderate our debates?!
So it's not exactly "the 3 am phone call" from the 2008 race. No, it's scarier than that. It's the "10 pm question." And you can bet your bottom dollar it's coming to a general election debate near you. You have to know it is. So the question the Republicans need to ask themselves is this: whom do you trust to handle "the 10 pm question"?
And let's be honest. We absolutely cringe at the thought of most of our candidates -- past and present -- having to face such a scenario. We wouldn't want to hear George W...nbsp;
The exchange, of course, is famous now. YouTube, Rush, and Sean Hannity made sure of that. If you missed it, it's worth the watch here; it's as delicious as Tebow's game-winner a week ago.

Newt Gingrich is our best candidate to defeat Obama.. it’s not even close
Agreed
The are some things that I don’t agree with Newt on, but two things made me really like him more, in the debate night before last.
First, he began to say that he and Reagan created jobs, but corrected himself to say the the public created jobs in the framework they had laid.
Second, was that exchange with Juan Williams. His tone said “Shut your race baiting trap Juan, and get a pair.”
I liked both points, and I’m thrilled that Newt was willing to quote the right of the pursuit of happiness, given by our Creator, not man.
Good on him.
Great answers, Im beginning to lean his way.
BAM!!!
Definition of amazing home run.
Didnt see it,after reading the american thinker,im still not impressed.Wont vote for Newt, wont vote for mitt.Unless someone else gets in there,Obama will win.
Agreed. I liked Santorum before the Arlen Specter incident but can’t get past it, unless he is the nominee and I am forced to, which I will.
Newt made mistakes, including the Nancy-on-the couch incident, but it was less egregious than the Specter endorsement over Toomey, IMO, as a pro lifer.
Newt goofed, but he will never vote for Cap and Trade. That the is the most important consideration as far as that particular fail goes, whereas Specter did a lot of damage.
Newt Gingrich IS our best candidate to defeat Obama.
I’ve been on the fence wavering between Gingrich and Santorum, but Newt’s smackdown of the idiot Juan Williams and Rick’s whinefest on Hannity yesterday made up my mind.
Newt’s our only choice.
Public schools, by and large, are a way to keep blacks “in their place”. If we want to help young black men out of the cultural rut, we need to get them out of the schools that fill their minds with empty promises of the good life - out of the schools that feed them cotton-candy “self-esteem” and allow them to earn meat-and-potatoes self-respect and the respect of their fellows, their women, and their children.
Men are created for work, and get self-respect by working and providing for themselves and for their families. Government handouts are the best way to beat men down and destroy the manhood of a nation or a culture. And when you destroy the manhood, you can run roughshod over that nation or culture.
You wanna help blacks? Give their young men the option to get out of the schools and into the world of work.
Santorum is a good man. He has made bad votes. However, anyone in office for a period of time will have bad votes and endorsements.....that is party politics.
Gingrich kept his word while in office. He fulfilled his promises and expanded conservatism. He has personal failings and made money from sitting next to Nancy Pelosi and working for Freddie/Fannie.
There is no perfect candidate!
All that being said, Gingrich is the only one who has consistently been able to handle the “gotcha” questions and turn the tables on opponents in a debate with an ease we have not seen since Reagan.
Whomever we nominate to go against Obama better be ready for those “gotcha” questions. The MSM moderators will defend Obama to the last and try to trap our candidate.
I understand your frustration - BUT - this country CANNOT afford another year of Obama. We simply have to hold our nose and vote for anybody but Obama.
Amen. With respect to race, why are we trying to shore up the 5% of the black vote? Colin Powell should have showed us that we will not be able to bridge the racial divide. It is interesting that when you discuss values and beliefs, we are indeed the same regardless of race. But the democrats and the liberal press have intellectually enslaved the black psyche.
wow pretty cool.. Newt was first then Perry then Bachman...
It is fun; share it with your progressive friends - it’ll make ‘em crazy!
...what, it’ll make’em crazy cause they will all be Paulists??? Great example of media bias as USA’s poll will mostly push McRomRino and under no set of answers will anyone be shown to support Perry!! Interesting in that they always show who they fear the most...
ymmv
You think the left fears Perry?
LOL!
Are you so blind that you cannot see that Ron Paul is a certified lunatic?
