POLITICO's Ginger Gibson caught up with an elated Newt Gingrich shortly after Sarah Palin's not-quite-but-sorta endorsement on Fox News:
"We're thrilled - I just talked to Todd and we're just thrilled," he told POLITICO as he headed into his hotel here for the night. "It's a signal to every conservative that the one conservative vote that's effective is to Newt Gingrich and that's very helpful."
Palin's expression of support, Gingrich said, is part of a rush of support he believes will power him to victory on Saturday - and from there, into the candidate who will beat Mitt Romney to the GOP nomiantion.
"Lots of different things are working together to help us," Gingrich said.....

The endorsement from Tim LaHaye was big. Palin is one of the biggest. Both will change some votes in SC, and FL. And if Newt can stay on message in the Thursday debate as effective as he was in the Fox debate, he (and we) have an excellent chance to minimize mitt. Hang tough Newt!
Newt’s got to beat Paul, Santorum and Romney first. So far he’s not beaten any of them.
You’re putting the cart before the horse.
Santorum would have a much better shot than Gingrich. If you're interested in electability, it's either Santorum or Romney. Newt is well underwater in favorability.
I don’t know who can beat Obama. But at least if I’m going to vote for Santorum, I will not have to hold my nose. I will have voted for the one who fought abortion and stared down the gay person who was against DADT.
If I vote for Newt, I will have voted for the guy who bashed Paul Ryan, embraced Nancy Pelosi and has a problem with companies that fire people.
Santorum? He has hardly any money. And Romney would be the white, Mormon Obama. So you’re for electability for its own sake?
Palin DID share this with everyone about nine days ago. I heard it loud and clear.
Coming from a Newt supporter?
Bashing people for choosing electibility? Really?
Haven’t you been preaching constantly that Newt was the only one who was electible?
Santorum fought, that’s not debatable. Gingrich saved Bill Clinton’s career, then fled like a coward, that’s not debatable. Then after saving Clinton, he went to work for Pelosi. I’d take a conservative fighter over a left wing coward any day.
I think you have me mixed up with someone else, bud.
Would that be from Yogi Berra?
My apologies then.
I know there’s been lots of folks saying that. My bad.
And Gingrich has money - from Fannie Mae/Barney Frank and the climate change gang. Money which will entitle them to Gingrich’s loyalty in the unlikely event he gets elected. Hi conservative facade wouldn’t last until Feb. 1, 2013.
Do you realize just how old that crap is getting?
“And Gingrich has money - from Fannie Mae/Barney Frank and the climate change gang. Money which will entitle them to Gingrichs loyalty in the unlikely event he gets elected. Hi conservative facade wouldnt last until Feb. 1, 2013.”
Sounds like McCain all over again. Except that McCain was a war hero.
You are the one preaching it.
I believe Santorum is a better conservative, a better candidate, and stronger electorally than Gingrich.
I might believe the Easter Bunny, Santa and a unicorn are hiding in my closet. Doesn’t mean it’s true.
Ronald Reagan was a union president, a Democrat and FDR admirer at one time, too.
Amazingly, that's more coherent than your previous 'arguments'.
Newt is resoundingly unpopular and his recent attacks on Romney have actually strengthened Romney's position.
I knew about the union thing, and the dimmacrat thing; He also was “divorced” of all things.
