I am not too excited about it. None of the candidates represent hardcore conservative principles or traditional values. They get elected and do just about nothing. The only reason any one of them may get my vote is to get the leftists out of office. How Romney became such a success eludes me. Gingrinch seems the more sensible choice, but I guess that is why he is such under heavy fire. He can actually keep himself removed from the pettiness, and that is truly dangerous to the rest. So, it seems they have tried with some success to pull him down into the dirt.

yes, there does seem to be a lack of consistency, and he is totally wrong on life, that is NOT a states rights issue.

The first amendment made it harder for illegals to collect social security. Santorum voted in favor.

It extended SSI payments to illegals, did it not?

Santorum didn't have a problem with hiring more border agents. He was opposed to depleting other states of money used to combat current immigration issues. It is possible to do both. The amendment he opposed did not.

Santorum's position on illegal immigration is that illegal immigrants are law breakers, and that they should be deported. The longer they have been here, the longer they have been breaking the law, and no favors should be given them, period.

His position on this is definitely more conservative than those of Gingrich and Perry. So again, read the bill and understand what it actually entails. With Congress, you never know. He could have voted against this amendment, and then turned around and voted in favor of one that hired ten times the agents without cutting funding from other states.

No. It extended the transition period for legal non-citizens. Illegals would not be eligible.

Why do you think that Santorum got “whooped”. Fine, vote for a phony (Romney or Paul), or a “Realpolitik Wilsonian” so gullible that he nestled on a couch with Pelosi to spew rubbish. Bob

Did you watch the entire show? It was only Eric B. who was harping on this and even Laura Ingraham disagreed with him. They then had Newt on as a guest. Overall, the Friends thought Newt won the night and played all of his "hit it outta the park" moments and even did a segment on the standing o. When Karl R. was on, he didn't dive into the discussion but wasted precious minutes on some other silly segment but then had to admit that it was Newt's night. Brian was practically jumping up and down on the curvy couch over Newt this morning. :)

I changed the channel as soon as I heard the class warfare comment and they had emails of people taking up for Romney. Please! But good to know the whole segment wasn't a Mittfest.

Why do you think that Santorum got “whooped”. P>I assume that's a question and you're simply mystified by proper punctuation. I 'think' that Santorum got whooped becasue he did. When an incumbent loses by 17 points that's a whooping son.

And as to the rest of your post...read my tag line.

Ok what are you going to replace the income tax with? Sales Tax? Congress can change the sales tax rate anytime they want if they have the votes. I don’t like government but it is a necessary evil. We do need some government.

I don’t like a progressive tax either that is why you go for Newt who wants a flat rate 10% No deductions, everyone pays!

Thank you for the heads up on Fox. It is hard for them not to look like igits when it was so obvious as to Newt Gingrich winning last night debate.

A sales tax would be a much fairer tax then and income tax since it would be much harder to make a sales tax progressive. It would spread the tax burden to everyone that buys stuff again making the tax fairer then an income tax. In effect everyone would have some shin in the game. A sales tax would in effect be a voluntary tax, don't want to pay the tax don't buy stuff. A sales tax would also be Constitutional something that the progressive income tax is not IMHO. A sales tax would also protect the privacy of American, since they would no longer be required to file documentation concerning their source of incomes.

I always find it curious when so called conservatives argue in support of the progressive income tax, one of the main tenets of socialism/Marxism. Since you are arguing in favor of a progressive income tax, maybe you should research exactly what conservationism means before (mis)labeling yourself as one.

I was going to delve into the reasons, but people have pointed them out many times on FR? Bob

Yours is an Obama interpretation of the Constitution!

Well why don't you point out where in the Constitution the Federal government is given the power to tell states what labor laws they can have.

Look who determines what is fair. If you have a 10% flat rate income tax with no deductions everybody pays it is fair!

.. means that Rush is now reflecting a differnt group than me and mine...

I can't listen to him anymore - I'm wondering if he isn't capitulating - I hear that his broadcasting company is owned, in large part, by Bain -

If that's the case, the Rush is truly no longer Rush

Yes, I’ve always felt that about Juan - an ‘honest’ liberal, a rare breed, indeed.

And he struggles with it.

I think he gets that reality balance at home with his wife and son - conservative republicans - that allows him to hear the other side, which leaves him in conflict, but at least, not hard core blind liberal.

Why don't you point out where it gives the Fed Gov't the power to unions to not let people work if they don't join the unions.

Santorum has already said he voted the way he voted because he was from a pro-union state.

I'm proud to live in a right to work state. Look what unions are doing to WI.

This sentence makes absolutely no sense.
