Who was it who bitterly said no one gets rich on their own? None other than the self-proclaimed champion of the middle class, Harvard professor Lizzy Warren.
Well, she should know. After finally filing her financial disclosure forms, it is clear that Lizzy is a member of the 1 percent.
When a candidate initially enters a race, he or she usually conducts a vulnerability study to investigate potential problems in his or her background. One of the ultimate goals of this research is to prevent the candidate from making false claims or attacking an opponent on a difficulty they share. You dont want to be a hypocrite.
Warrens people either failed to do one or decided that because Lizzy is a Democrat, they can do anything they want and never be held accountable. Why not? No one held Gov. Deval Patrick responsible for lying about cutting property taxes. U.S. Rep. John Tierney has not been forced to explain his claims of ignorance about his wifes illegal activities. I could go on and on.
Lizzy has suggested she believes it takes a village to get rich. Her experience indicates it actually takes a part-time job at Harvard. In 2009, her salary was $350,000 and she earned $429,000 for 2010 and 2011.
She also raked in $136,000 in royalties from her books, $10,000 for lecturing at a Boston law firm, $90,000 for consulting for a Florida law firm and $43,000 for working for Travelers Insurance.
Wait one minute; I thought insurance compan-- ies were evil, according to the Obama administration.
Lets not forget the Oklahoma transplant earned a hefty salary for part-time government work. As a special adviser for President Obama, she was compensated $165,000 from September 2010 through August 2011 and she received $192,000 for serving on the Congressional panel overseeing TARP.
So we can say that based on her own experience, shes at least part right. No one gets rich on his or her own . . . when they are working for the government. Because thats taxpayer money.
Just like every other middle-class household in Massachusetts, her investments are valued at $3 million. Is her middle name Forbes?
Her home is estimated to be worth $1 million to $5 million. That doesnt cut her out of the 99 percent because it is located in the politically correct neighborhood of Cambridge. It is middle class when you compare it to the pads of her fellow Democrats, U.S. Sen. John Kerry and Gov. Deval Patrick.
The only thing that could make her a more hypocritical class warrior is if she anchored a yacht in Rhode Island.
There is nothing wrong with being financially well-off. The problem is that Lizzy wants everyone in the 1 percent to feel guilty about their success while she lands another six-figure part-time gig.
Beware of school teachers turned lawyer! /s
The only thing more obnoxious than a 99%er is a 1%er pretending to be a 99%er.
It’s not called “having it both ways”, it’s called “doublethink”, a necessary ability for all Party members.
And we’ve always been at war with East Asia.
Great post.
Of course this will never be seen in the MSM, but I’m loving it.
Mr. Gingrich: "Would you abort a liberal baby?"
Mr. Romney: "Would you abort a blue collar baby?"
Mr. Paul: "Would you abort a future banker?"
Mr Perry: "Would you talk some sense into these guys?"
Prof. Warren differs from many of the other 1% in that she wants to see the 99% not fleeced. She tells the story of giving a seminar at a large bank reporting her analysis of bankruptcies. She outlined her analysis and noted that if they did not extend credit to a well-defined subset of the most uncredit worthy clients that they could cut their bankruptcies by a large percentage. She said she got the “But Prof. Warren” question and all the eyes turned to the person with all the power in the room. The power broker responded “that is where we make most of our money.” The banker had more in common with a drug pusher - he knew the clients couldn’t pay but was going to get them in trouble and fleece them for all kinds of penalties and fees before they went bankrupt. Now nobody held a gun to these poor schmuck’s heads and made them sign loan papers, but I’m glad when people like Prof. Warren want to force the bankers to provide clear disclosure in plain English.
My goodness, how do you get that kind of dough, even at an Ivy League?
What a BS story!! The powerbroker says, “but that’s where we get the most money” (from poor people). That’s an outlandish anecdote.
Santorum would call B.S. on this one, at least. “Nobody is born gay.”
Per capita client. maybe. Not their overall clientele.
How about a 1%er (Soros) funding a 99%er.
I wonder whom Lizzy owes her degree to that she hasn’t fully compensated; after all, nobody earned anything like that on their own. Why, there had to be policemen keeping the rampaging hordes away while she was studying for her degree. (It wasn’t just her pretty face and creamy legs that kept them away, no way) And, I believe she owes some money to Thomas Edison, because he invented the light bulb without which she could never have put in those nights late studying. As well, I think she owes something to the power company that brought the electricity to her dorm room so that light bulb would work. And oh no, it wasn’t like she fulfilled her debt to socity just by paying her electric bill and buying her light bulbs. Oh no, no way. There’s more, so much more. What about her underwear? Doesn’t she owe some money to the folks who sewed her drawers? And the company who manufactured the desk she wrote on, and all those damn pencils! And perhaps most importantly, what about those sexy glasses she wears? She couldn’t see the broad side of a barn without them. The folks who manufactured her reading glasses, she owes them everything. When do the checks go out? She’s gonna end up a pauper thanking all those folks who made it possible for her to achieve her goals.
Cute.
And staggeringly stupid.
She obviously knows where the money is, sounds like a natural for the Senate Appropriations Committee.
But, but she thinks she can. She teaches some sort of fantasy lie.
Is Scott Brown capitalizing on this? I hope so.
This would be the same Liz Warren who was recently presented for induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame by Boone Pickens.
