Brand new computer.
Ran Avira anti-virus and it found it>>>>>>>>
Why use Avira? MS Security Essentials is better and is free. I used to use Avira
looking into that MS program right now....thanks!
No, we just enjoy reading smug comments from self-congratulatory Linux & Macintosh wankers like the person you see in the mirror.
Well I don’t have a way to show you buy Dh runs that game on his.
You folks don’t seem to understand that the computer doesn’t know whether it is mac or pc when it’s running widows and there have been many many articles about how the mac actually runs windows better than the pc does....
I have no fear of OSX...I just don't like Apple and will never own one of their products. A personal choice. By the same token, I hate Windows 7 and 8.
For 10 hours everyday I live on the CLI...Unix and Linux. I've been doing it for 20 years. So I guess there is no juice to your assumption that I resist change.
In fact, your assertion sounds very much like the song of The Collective. "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
Worst virus I ever got.
I blame Microsoft because they have so many pop-ups and reminders and updates (it’s really just self-advertising)
This virus opens up a pop-up on your screen that looks deceptively like Microsoft incessant intrusions. I absent-mindedly clicked to close, and dang if it didn’t send me to a website.
All Heck broke loose on my PC.
- IE would go to no other website than the virus would allow.
- When I rebooted, it changed the names of all my *.exe files (executables)
Solution - Rebooted in Safe Mode and reloaded an old Restore point.
Be careful, because some versions of this thing wipe out your old restore points.
In the past few weeks I’ve had to deal with this Win 7 Home Security virus and it’s clone, Win 7 Anti Spyware virus. They are essentially the same.
Quickest fix for me was to run Anti-malware in Safe mode. You may have to right click and run this as administrator. Let it run, let it clean up the mess for you.
On my Win 7 machine, I found that random 3 character.exe file in my {user}\appdata\local directory.
I have a friend who does computer work on the side and he has seen this particular virus ramp up in the last month or so. The novice user who gets this virus, it’s impossible to get rid of without some help.
To the creators of this virus, I believe there is a special place in Hell waiting for you.
Why would I buy a machine that emulates a pc when i could just buy a pc...
I’ve bee using Kaspersky PURE AV software for about a year now. It seems to work so far.

Very specific instructions on removal and checking that removal was successful.
Malwarebytes was a good start!”
It took 60 posts but you are spot on, I removed this from a clent’s computer last week using this same guide, and they’ve been virus free since.
It’s epidemic on the web right now, a Java based infection that can infect your computer just by loading a malicious webpage, and names itself based on your OS.
It will also delete the executable of some popular antivirus programs, rendering them useless.
pfl
obviously you only know marketing nonsense. In reality if I can get you to view an image I can take control of your computer. root level control
just ask any of the certified ethical hackers that work for me, they’ll be happy to show you.
I got the virus Vista Home Security 2012. PC tools is supposed to get rid of it. I bought it and ran it. It didn’t.
I cannot run any .exe files. I can only access the internet directly, not through a link. My machine is a real mess.
There’s a way to take it back to ‘factory’ ... do that and just start over...
Sounds similar to the problem described here:

Yup one nasty virus. Got infected last year. It’s the only virus that has ever made it into my computer & we’re talking since the mid 1990’s.
The instructions on bleepingcomputer.com were great: clear, detailed, and I’ve been virus free since.
I’m not tied to any one OS exclusively, either. I run multiple Linux distros under VMWare Fusion. I choose Mac OSX as my primary OS as it is by far the slickest, most polished OS out there. Now that Office 2011 has an excellent native OSX version, I no longer really have a reason to run Windows, except for some legacy versions of accounting software I still have to use.
I choose the best tool for the job, and even in OSX, I continue to use vim as my primary editor and the shell as my primary interface for development. Yet, I have the other great programs such as iTunes, iPhoto, etc., at my disposal as well, along with whatever other apps you like, and superb stability. Just like with Linux, uptime is measured in months or more.
No collective here—just acknowledgment that Apple produce an excellent hardware and software combination which provides a superb fulfillment of my needs.
Agreed. Mostly...because I cannot attest firsthand for obvious reasons. But I will also say that since I have found the software nad hardware that fits my needs perfectly, I have no reason to explore OSX or pay for its associated hardware.
when's your next book coming out???
