Amid shaking hands and signing campaign posters, Mitt Romney did something he has never done before on the ropeline: He took out his wallet and handed a wad of cash to a woman waiting to shake his hand.
[snip]
According to Williams, she followed the campaign bus to the Columbia airport on Wednesday, the same day Romney was arriving from New Hampshire. When Romney wasnt on the bus, aides told her to go to the rally scheduled in Columbia later that day. When she showed up, Romney found her to say hello and pulled over South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to say hello too.
He was kind to me and he made Gov. Haley come see about me, Williams said. He stopped doing everything.
Williams, who would not specify how much money Romney gave her, said also that South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis paid her light bill on Thursday. A spokesman for Loftis, one of Romneys major endorses in the state, confirmed to ABC News that he paid Williams bill. While Loftis didnt know the amount of the bill, he confirmed that he gave her $150.

Williams said she has been volunteering at Romneys Columbia headquarters since meeting his bus last week.
Ive been working at his campaign office cleaning and just doing little things, she said.

While Williams would not specify how much money Romney gave her, a campaign spokesman said that he believes Romney gave the woman between $50 and $60.

That was nice, but I hope he did not intend a metaphor.
Does anyone else find it really tacky that he gave her money like that? I don’t see anything ‘noble’ about this.
If he had an ouce of class or chairty he would have had one of his aides pay her light bill quietly and had them see about helping her get a job.
Really embarassing for everybody involved. How out of touch are you to be such a condescending idiot?
Yeah, exactly or address her privately himself. Not make a public spectacle out of it. So gross.
Mitt seems so out of touch & this makes him look a bit like John Kerry IMO. He could had ask one of his aides to do something for the lady. IMO.
You should never do a good deed for show, so that one might brag.
Now, isn't this an irregular act? Vote buying? Something is not right about this.

Obama’s brother from another mother. If conservatives fall for this non-vetted poser we’re no better than the Dems that fell for the non-vetted poser Obama.
CNN ran the above story.
Hell, yeah, it’s a violation of FEC rules of the highest order.
This is ABC and CNN reassuring Mittens that he’s untouchable.
Since the woman was already ‘committed’, it’s just an employer reimbursing an employee.
Next thing you know we’ll be hearing all about Romney’s “stash”. He’ll have them lined up with their hands out.
This sounds more like a TV game show than a serious run for the presidency.
Has our nation really fallen that far to lap up this kind of gobbledegook?
"Come on down!"
Such a misguided gesture if this is true.
So, he thinks he can out redistribute Obama in a gesture like this and beat him at his own game.
If the moderates (who decide this thing) want a redistribution artist, they’ll vote for the one they already have and not a new one.
I’m glad he’s done this this early while we still have a chance to get a conservative nominated.
He give her $50 or $60 dollars.Wow,could he spare it!That,s not even a penny compared to his pocket worth.
Just DAMN if they get away with this.
I hope every panhandler in SC lines the ropes at every stop for Romney-the-RINO.......
LOL, me too. And have them say, “You paid that other woman’s bills, why won’t you pay mine?”
This was a really pathetic move; pathetic for its insincerity.
Typical elitist condescension to his inferiors. I’ve seen it all my life. He is just another J.Kerry.
