7 Reasons John Hawkins Opinion Has No Merit

1) “Romney can’t win” he won in Massechusetts as a Republican. That in itself is a tough feat. Gingrich has never won a state race, Santorum lost his senate seat, Perry is just a plain incoherent speaker, and Paul (I like him) can’t get past his base and has no charisma.
2) “Romey Mormon” Attack on his religion will turn off Independents and curry favor with women who will sympathize.
3) New Gingrich couldn’t win a General election in any circumstance, neither could Santorum, nor any other candidate in the field.
4) Romney aside from Ron Paul is the only candidate thus far to poll in dead heat or ahead of Obama
5) Ginrich can’t even win a Republican primary how is he going to win a general where he is hated by independents and democrats
6) Romney is only candidate shown to be able to raise large money which will be required to overcome bias media and Obama’s fund raising machine.
7) “Bain” this leftist attack by Newt and Perry (glad be sucked in debates, otherwise he could have done well, a true leftist) is good to have now. Allows Romney to prepare defense for this baseless anti-capitalist attack for the General. Will be old news.

1. He was the 3rd republican governor in a row. He ruined that by terrible performance and deserted when it came time for re-election leaving his replacement (Healey) with his 30% approval rating.

Romney and Santorum ran for a Senate seat at exactly the same time in exactly the same level of blue state. Santorum won. Romney was trounced by over 17 points. Santorum had won twice as a congressman previously in a blue state. Santorum then won AGAIN with a second senate seat. Romney has lost every race he ever ran in except one term as governor in which he was helped by a 3rd party that cut into the democrat vote.

2. The media is subtle and they aren’t targeting everyone with their anti-mormon propaganda. They’ll target it toward those who will be swayed by it. And if just 1-2 percent are, then that is huge is certain states.

3. If you take their winning percentages, every candidate in the Republican field has a better track record that Romney. Romney is a loser of elections. That’s his track record.

4 Polls on “match-ups far in the future” are based on name recognition, and have zero reliability. If they are accurate, then Jimmy Carter trounced Ronald Reagan and John kerry trounced GW Bush.

5. Gingrich suffered a brutal attack aid campaign when he had just surged. The surge meant he did not have financial resources at the time. He does now.

6. Romney will not have nearly enough money to defeat the billion dollar war chest GIVEN his long list of negatives. Every advantage a GOP candidate could have is given away with romney: give away obamacare with romneycare; give away abortion because he’s pro-abortion; give away gay marriage because he’s pro-gay marriage; and on and on and on.

7. Gingrich’s entire strategy was to demonstrate how Bain is the supreme losing issue for Romney in the general election. Ted Kennedy used it to pound Romney to mush. So will Obama.

Santorum lost his senate seat,

In a hell year for Republicans, in a state that was moving blue, to a Dem who was the son of a mega-popular governor and lied about his stance on abortion.

None are applicable to dealing with Obama.

OK...ask yourself if Ron Paul would be able to stay even with or ahead of Obama if he somehow won the nomination.

Yeah, so those polls mean squat, don't they?

Liar. Massechusetts had been governed by Republicans since 1991 when Romney took the state house in 2003 by a far thinner margin and in a far better year for Republicans than his predecessors'. Romney was the third Republican governor of Massechusetts after Governors Weld, and Celluci. Romney ranked 49th out of 50 among US governors for favourability when he left office in disgrace to begin his 6 year run for the presidency. Because of Romney the MA GOP would lose the state house for the next 2 cycles if not many more.
