Leading Family History Site also Links GOP Candidates Huntsman and Perry to Former Presidents and American Legends
PROVO, UTAH (December 20, 2011) - As Americans prepare to cast their votes in the 2012 Republican Presidential primaries and caucuses starting January 3 in Iowa, Ancestry.com today announced that several key Republican presidential contenders have historic political leaders in their genes – suggesting that the upcoming primaries are really one grand ol’ family party.
The world’s largest online family history resource has discovered that Mitt Romney leads the pack in presidential lineage with six former Commanders–in-Chief in his family history. The former Massachusetts governor's family tree includes relations to Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Coolidge, Pierce, Hoover and both President George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.
Not far behind in presidential pedigree is former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, whose family tree boasts four former heads of state: Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Coolidge and both Presidents Bush.
The buck stops with Texas Governor Rick Perry, who can claim President Harry Truman and legendary Texas Governor Sam Houston in his tree.
“We find in these politicians’ family trees links to the foundations of the country – early settlers seeking freedom and opportunities, Revolutionary War patriots, and even American legends,” said Anastasia Harman, Lead Family Historian for Ancestry.com. “Time and again American politicians have family ties to our country’s founders and past leaders. It seems the traits that forged past leaders have been handed down through generations to our current and hopeful leaders.”
My days of running around naked are long gone but I like the idea of my relative running away from the Indians naked as a jay bird. As you know, he survived, as later I got to be born.
Oh no! I am suppose to be distantly related to the Bushes. That would mean I may be in a gene pool with Romney. Yuk!
Actually they are not.
My mother’s bDay is incorrect as well as her death date, no way to correct it.
That’s just a start.
Oh, yea and the fact that Jesus had three wives.
Hmmm. Looks like I’m related to Romney — off the top of my head I think it’s 7th cousins twice removed. With the common ancestor of Charles Doucet.
But really, that many generations back half of all Americans with any ancestry in the U.S. prior to 1800 can find a relationship one way or another.
ANCESTRY.COM Reveals Mitt Romneys Presidential Genes: 2012 GOP Hopeful Is Related to Six Presidents

Maybe he is but being related to 6 presidents of Mormonism has nothing to do with being the one who should be elected to be President of the United States...
Time and again American politicians have family ties to our countrys founders and past leaders. It seems the traits that forged past leaders have been handed down through generations to our current and hopeful leaders.

yeah that Benedict Arnold trait shows up in Williard Mitt Romney..
Thank you for the corrections. You are right.
So what are we to conclude from this? That elitist inbreeding produces libtards? Here I thought the muzzie-loving, globull-warming, rat-faced buffoon Prince Charles was the poster boy for elitist inbreds. But now it looks like we’re giving the Brit elites a run for their money on our own side of the pond after a couple hundred years of our own elitist inbreeding.
Oh, frak. According to your list I am related to Huntsman, as I am also related to several of those guys. YULK!!!!!
My ancestors came here on the Neiw Netherlandt from Holland in 1623,
from England with Winthops Fleet in 1630
From Holland in 1636
from Holland in 1645
Some French/Dutch in between
From France thru England in 1680
From Germany thru England in 1710
from Ireland in 1720
If the Flying Inman families go back far enough in this country then Im probably related to them
and thats a good thing
:)
“Sad that I know all this. I need to get a live.”
I didn’t know you were dead, ... heheheheh....
I’m pretty sure Romney’s got some Carter, LBJ, Slick Willie and 0bummer in him too.
The interesting thing about Mormons is that they are primarily of Anglo-Saxon descent from England. Meanwhile relatively few Scots-Irish (often confused with English) are Mormons. It could be a cultural thing. I guess moonshining and Mormonism just don’t mix.
Sniff! Poor GWB. He can't claim descent for the famous Duke of Kohn.
I am aware of that, vet. Silly people, really.
Maybe I should have said that Mormons are really big into it.
Hey, cousin, I bet we are related.
My Mom’s family landed in 1625, settled in what’s now called NYC.
The Van Kortricks, went to Ohio (territory) around 1750. (Oh, yea James Monroe came outa that line - whooohoo.)
My Dad’s family came through Eilis Island 1912, from Sicily.
Oh, forgot Mom’s family from Holland.
The submitted lineages have errors because they were submitted by people (not always Mormoms) who didn't know what they were doing (the same goes with the Ancestry lineages). However the records in the form of microfilms and transcribed databases of church registries, censuses, military enlistment documents etc. etc., are 99.99% accurate. It is the compilation in one place of all these records that is so valuable. The lineages are still useful for pointing you in one direction. If you see one that says you are descended from Ben Franklin, that's nice, but you need to verify the sources that person used yourself. Genealogy is long hard work, but it's very rewarding when you know the details you found are thorough and correct.
That all said, I am confident that these Presidential lineages are accurate. When the Mormons release this stuff the last thing they need to is to reproduce some goof a little old lady made 50 years ago, so they have professional researchers sit down and reconstruct the entire thing record-by-record.
I found errors even in the microfilms, not just submissions. Even my genealogy instructor at BYU admitted the records aren’t as accurate as they claim.
just sayin’ my experience is different and I never trust anything that comes out of Mormon HQ - again based upon experience.
