I like Ron Paul, but I’ve seen many zotted here promoting Paul so I try to just defend him and not promote him. I wish I could promote his ideas without getting zotted. But I will obey the rules, just saying

I like his monetary and fiscal policies; also the philosophy that if bad behavior goes unrewarded there is less of it (don’t give services like healthcare, education and welfare to illegal aliens and many won’t come).

I do not agree with his foreign policies. If everyone in the whole world were libertarian it would work but he needs to realize that there are evil people in the world that want to destroy our freedom, and not because of anything we did.

What? When/where are these rules posted? I've been away from FR for some time, but decided to come back for a while to discuss -and perhaps promote- a legitimate Republican candidate. Does this "rule" apply to all candidates, or just "kooky ol' Ron"?

Methinks Free Republic isn't as "free" as it used to be...

Ron Paul is a 9/11 truther - just saying, and it’s enough.

It’s a conservative website and not a Libertarian one. There is small l libertarian aspects to conservatism. Former Paul people have come in here and made it worse, which is why the owner is fed up with his supporters - in conjunction with disagreements on a wide range of conservative issues.

Just sayin.

“I wish I could promote his ideas without getting zotted. But I will obey the rules, just saying..”

I’ve seen the same, but I’ve noted a couple of things about the anti-Paul zots: first is that they’re usually n00bs coming here solely to post pro-Paul articles, and second that the long term FReepers zotted have been very unwise in allowing themselves to get dragged into urinating matches with the anti-Paul howlers. The official policy, and this is a quote, is that “paultards suck.” It doesn’t seem to be zot on sight yet, although I think that was coming until about a week ago. Things seemed to cool down a bit when Sarah Palin spoke up.

This is a private website and JR can ban anyone he wants for any reason or no reason. In general, though, and to his credit JR has been fairly tolerant. So long as what you’re saying isn’t contrary to the basic principles of the website and you’re not getting in flame wars or otherwise violating the rules, he’s usually pretty good about letting you stick around. If a certain group is about to be zotted, it’s done after warning goes out.

As far as I’m concerned, I’m happy to post here and will continue to do so as a grateful guest as long as I’m welcome AND so long as I can voice my views in a polite manner. Including my belief that the Paul faction represents the best set of tradeoffs amongst the remaining candidacies. When I can’t voice my views anymore, then it’ll be time to go.

Same here. I chime in only rarely. I like it here, but the place seems to be overrun with paid shills and neocons lately. Lots of people that “claim” to be conservative, yet have an obvious disdain for the protections affirmed in the constitution.

I would love to post some topics to generate good discussion, but feel that I would get flamed mercilessly, called a tard, liberal, stupid, code pink member, etc then zotted and banned.

Can you imagine if I posted either of these to the forum?
