I would like to believe that Gingrich would do something about the EPA. But he and other republicans have had the chance to do something, and the agencies have only gotten bigger and more ruthless.

Another example for conversational sake, suppose that you make an honest mistake on your tax return. By the time you get notified of the mistake, it is a couple of years later, and you get slammed with a 40% penalty. There's nothing fair about that. Why haven't the Republicans been trying to reform the powers of the IRS? It's because they don't care and won't do anything unless the abuses get enough national attention.

So what you're saying is it's all an exercise in futility?

Or do you have a candidate you think would do more, and better, than Newt? If so, cool, though it would be nice to be enlightened as to why I should switch from Newt to someone else. But if all you have is despair, then ... maybe a gardening forum, or a sports forum or somesuch, would be a better place for you and for FR. Resigned despair is for losers.
