In a press release this afternoon, Club for Growth criticized Newt Gingrich for his attacks on Mitt Romneys career at Bain Capital, calling them unbecoming a Reagan Conservative. Club for Growths statement:
Yesterday, Gingrich said Those of us who believe in free markets and those of us who believe that in fact the whole goal of investment is entrepreneurship and job creation we find it pretty hard to justify rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company, leaving behind 1,700 families without a job. Gingrichs attack was echoed that same day that by the Democratic National Committee, which also attacked Romney for his job creation record at Bain Capital.
Newt Gingrichs attacks on Mitt Romneys record at Bain Capital are disgusting, said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. There are a number of issues for Mitt Romneys Republican opponents to attack him for, but attacking him for making investments in companies to create a profit for his investors is just wrong. Because of the efforts of Bain Capital, major companies like Staples, Dominos Pizza, and the Sports Authority now employ thousands of people and have created billions in wealth in the private economy. Attacking Governor Romney for participating in free-market capitalism is just beyond the pale for any purported Reagan Conservative. Newt Gingrich should stop his attacks on free markets and apologize to Governor Romney for them.
Hey nutjobs, GTF out of here with your backpacks and join the Army like REAL Americans, unlike the degenerate predator homosexual marriage and in the military supporting romneycare douchebag FLIP SLICK WILLARD RINO ROMNEY, WHO'S ENTIRE FAMILY including his 5 sons has managed to avoid serving in any war including WWI and WWII.
When he's not busy cannibalizing companies and destroying peoples lives, he's busy lying to people with a straight face that he is a conservative.
He's not buying his way into the nomination.
This is the last election cycle he will be allowed to pollute.
Somebody tell me the Club for Growth isn’t supporting Mittens..
So you think attacking Romney or any other Republican candidate for being in business is a good idea for a Republican candidate? So you share Gingrich’s DC/Dim tendencies?
“Gingrich was on a Board of Advisors for Forstmann Little, an equity firm that did the same thing as Bain.”
Really? Didn’t Bain use “junk bonds”???

Forstmann, the Big-Hearted Prodigy
http://townhall.com/columnists/emmetttyrrell/2011/11/24/forstmann,_the_big-hearted_prodigy/page/full/
WASHINGTON — On Sunday morning we lost a big-hearted prodigy: Teddy Forstmann, financier, political player, philanthropist (especially for the young and those in education) and a bit of an adventurer. I know — I accompanied him on some and feared for my life. He was a member of the Board of Directors of The American Spectator in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Teddy died of brain cancer, and we shall miss him.
[........]
Teddy would not use junk bonds. That was, he would say, “funny money. It’s wampum.” Over lunch, he would try to explain it to me. He was famous for coining the phrase “barbarians at the gate.” It served as the title for Bryan Burrough and John Helyar’s best-seller about the $25 billion deal for RJR Nabisco, which Forstmann bid on but lost to private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts.
Teddy had an eye for “the deal” but was also extremely well-read, athletic and civilized. He was a conservative too. He donated millions to the Republican Party, though his real interest was in education and the young. He teamed up with John T. Walton, son of Walmart founder Sam Walton, and donated millions to the Children’s Scholarship Fund. He was an advocate of voucher programs and charter schools.
Teddy also had a sense of humor. He created a rivalry with Henry Kravis from the battle for RJR Nabisco. Teddy prided himself on using subordinated debt. KKR used junk debt. Teddy lost, but in “Barbarians at the Gate,” Burrough and Helyar testify that Teddy “fervently believed junk bonds had perverted not only the LBO industry but Wall Street itself.” .....
[........]
Bain is a very mixed bag. They financed some companies like Staples and got them off the ground. They straightened out some companies, kept them alive, revamped them so they could compete. Often people had to be fired as these companies were made leaner
Then we get to category three where Bain acquired a company. Stripped out tens of millions in management fees while raiding the pension plans. These pension plans were then bailed out by the Feds. So the taxpayer actually paid for Bain’s profits. These companies went bust
Am reading your second link to the WSJ. Thanks
I knew this was going to be a really nasty election cycle but I did not think it would get this bad this fast. The general is going to be open warfare at the rate we are going.
They sure will, even as they are thanking him for creating the communist healthcare scheme known as "Obamacare". Mittens is a surefire loser no matter how you cut it.
Or is he exposing the worst of Wall Street and crony capitalism? Newt is my 80/20 guy. 80% I agree with is fine with me. No one else even comes close.
Also, I've been thinking, who do you want to take the 3 am call? . . Think about it. . I did and came up with Newt. He would immediately weigh all the options, talk with real adults, talk with his cabinet and not make a purely 'political' decision. He might just make the decision that's best for the country. .
Speaking of cabinet, can you imagine Newt's picks? They would be All-Stars. Bolton, Palin, Trump, Cain, DeMint, Daniels, Rubio, Christie, Ryan, Walker and Cantor. At last, real Americans back at the helm. Don't blow this America! I want America revived, restored and put on Go again!
Bob Taft was a non-interventionist. Pat Buchanan even to this day makes a cogent argument for that. But Paul is too much influenced by the anti-colonialism of the 50s, and he seems blind to the implications of religious fanaticism. His posture toward the wave of Islamism sweeping from the Indus to the Atlantic is very like Obamas.
SECTION 3. Chapter 6A of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 16I the following 6 sections: . . . Section 16M. (a) There shall be a MassHealth payment policy advisory board. The board shall consist of the secretary of health and human services or his designee, who shall serve as chair, the commissioner of health care financing and policy, and 12 other members: 1 member appointed by Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (Massachusetts General Court Website, www.mass.gov, Accessed 2/5/07)
BUMP what you said.
I like the way you post!
barbarians at the gate was a great movie, i should buy the book, bet that is even better then the movie.
I have to admit, I’m enjoying all of the Romney RINO defenders coming out for air.
Ron Paul is a non interventionist too. I can post the definition of an isolationist and a non interventionist if you like. Paul is not an isolationist.
How many jobs did Gingrich create while accepting 1.5 million dollars in consulation fees from Freddie Mac?
It is not suprising that Gingrich does not seem to like capitalism.
Had enough? Citizens, take back your government! | ||||||
The Mitt Romney Deceptionby Brian Camenker, MassResistance Despite recent statements across the country by Governor Mitt Romney claiming he's pro-life, pro-family and a committed conservative, a broad investigation of his actual statements, actions, and public positions over the years indicates that he has spent his entire career speaking and governing as a liberal - and that his new found conversion to conservatism very likely coincides with his candidacy for the presidency. The information in this report is gleaned from public records, press accounts, internet web sites and research (as well as personal observation) by my organization, MassResistance, a grass-roots pro-family group that has observed Governor Romney for over a decade. We have analyzed his legislation, met with his staff, lobbied for and against his agenda (depending what it is) and otherwise compiled considerable research on his administration. We believe this report is necessary due to a calculated effort by the Romney campaign to revise his history and portray the Governor as far more conservative than the record indicates. Already, the Governor's staff is making appointments with the nation's leading conservative leaders to convince them that he should be the standard bearer for the conservative movement in the upcoming presidential elections. We have also been alarmed by misleading and glowing accounts about Romney which have appeared in the conservative media over the past year. The fact that these articles were based upon sloppy research and material supplied by the Romney camp gave us great incentive to set the record straight. Few national political writers have bothered to speak with any MassResistance member, or for that matter anyone critical of Romney's record. One of the few conservative publications to expose Romney's liberalism is the conservative weekly Human Events which (in a 2005 article) listed Romney at number eight on its list of "Top Ten Republicans in Name Only (RINOs)." Indeed, this report will demonstrate that Romney was probably the most pro-abortion and pro-gay rights Republican official in the nation for the last decade. The idea that he has suddenly become a conservative after a decade of liberal actions and statements would be merely amusing were it not for the fact that he's running for the presidency and that many conservatives are falling for this act.
On the other hand, it's particularly interesting to note that Bay Windows, Boston's major homosexual newspaper, has reviewed Romney favorably. That same newspaper regularly prints extremely vicious and even obscene attacks on all conservative politicians, the "Christian Right" and even parents who challenge the liberal political agenda. The November elections were clearly a turning point for the conservative movement. While President Bush has done some good things for the conservative movement, in many areas his administration has been a great disappointment. Movement activists across the country have become disillusioned with the Republican Party as a result of Bush's massive spending spree, his failure to veto wasteful programs, his inattention toward illegal immigration, and his token attention to social issues. As a result, we paid a price at the polls. In two years, the presidential elections will be upon us and the GOP will have an opportunity to redeem itself. However, if we elect another President who demoralizes our base even further, it could spell the end of the conservative movement as we know it. Many conservative organizations are already reporting that segments or our base are dropping out of politics altogether or joining the Libertarian and other small parties. Another four or eight years of "big tent" Republicanism or "compassionate conservatism" will kill our base and CPAC meetings will be held in a phone booth. Thus, it is imperative that the movement carefully scrutinize the record of all candidates seeking the presidency and if none of the existing candidates meet our standards, then it would be prudent for the conservative movement to draft someone we can all be supportive of. Let's review Governor Romney's positions on the hot-button issues and his actions as Governor of Massachusetts. (Note: News source web links are listed at the end of this document by date. ConclusionFor over ten years MassResistance has observed Mitt Romney and his actions. On issue after issue, Romney would search for a way to look like he was governing as a conservative, but in every case, the liberals would ultimately be the victors. He would double the money for programs that promoted homosexuality in the schools but then turn around and veto what he himself had allocated, knowing full well his veto would be overturned. On the marriage issue, he made it look like he was "forced" into recognizing homosexual marriages, but he refused to pursue other options that would have rallied anti-gay marriage forces and perhaps turned this issue around. He would issue statements critical of obscene pro-homosexual books and about the treatment of David Parker, yet it was the actions of his own agencies that created these controversies to begin with. Nor would he lift a finger to make internal changes to prevent his agencies from promoting the liberal agenda or reprimand any employees possibly engaged, for example, in illegal activities. To any observer, his seemingly contradictory tactics and strategies looked as though he was preparing a "conservative track record" for his run for higher office. He has issued enough conservative sounding statements and engaged in enough "battles" with liberals (as fake as many of them were), that to an uninformed observer, it may look like he was an embattled conservative triumphing over the forces in liberalism in one of the most liberal states in America. Both that's the myth his campaign staff wants to perpetrate. Any close observer will tell you that the pro-abortion and pro-homosexual forces never lost any battles under his tenure and that in fact, they grew in power and influence. Romney did nothing to restrain the groups who have launched a jihad on America's Judeo-Christian culture. On so many occasions, the liberal agenda could have been slowed down or even defeated with the smallest internal regulatory decision or executive order and yet he never used the power he had to do that. He gave up the battlefield to our enemies over and over again. This is why every conservative in America needs to question his overly hyped conversion to conservatism. How can we trust a man who has done so much damage to causes dear to our hearts who has suddenly become a conservative only after deciding to run for President? Fourteen years ago the country was duped by a charming, smooth talking "moderate" Democrat named Bill Clinton who used the power of the Presidency to inflict great damage to America's military, to our intelligence agencies, and to our culture. The gap between how Clinton appeared to most Americans and how he really governed was huge. We cannot afford another President like that. As for the Paul Ryan sabotage, I had to go out into the net to find out if there was something behind Newt's behavior. Why did he do it, is the question.
First of all, Newt is a close friend of Paul Ryan. Back in May 17th, 2011, Newt called Paul and apologized for calling his plan right-wing social engineering.
In a May 15th Meet the Press interview, Newt revealed this about himself:
"One of my great weaknesses is that part of me is a teacher analyst. And part of me is a political leader. And I've--one of the most painful lessons I've had to learn, and I haven't fully learned it obviously, is that if you seek to be the president of the United States, you are never an analyst, you know, you're never a college teacher because those folks can say what they want to say. And somebody who offers to lead America has to be much more disciplined and, and much more thoughtful than an analyst. Analysts can say anything they want to because there's no downside. But the person to whom you're entrusting the leadership of the United States had better think long and hard before they say things. I think that's a fair criticism of me."
As to the "right-wing social engineering." comment, in that interview Newt says this:
"I don't think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering. I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate. I think we need a national conversation to get to a better Medicare system with more choices for seniors. But there are specific things you can do. At the Center for Health Transformation, which I helped found, we published a book called "Stop Paying the Crooks." We thought that was a clear enough, simple enough idea, even for Washington. We --between Medicare and Medicaid--we pay between $70 billion and $120 billion a year to crooks. And IBM has agreed to help solve it, American Express has agreed to help solve it, Visa 's agreed to help solve it. You can't get anybody in this town to look at it. That's, that's almost $1 trillion over a decade. So there are things you can do to improve Medicare . . . I think what you want to have is a system where people voluntarily migrate to better outcomes, better solutions, better options . . . I would be against a conservative imposing radical change."

10 reasons Christians should reject Romney
Exclusive: Gordon James Klingenschmitt notes none of them involve Mormonism
Published: 10/27/2011 at 5:55 PM
Weve all heard the controversy about presidential candidate Mitt Romneys faith. Is he a Christian? He claims to be, yet 75 percent of American Protestant pastors disagree with the statement: I personally consider Mormons to be Christians. Wherever you stand, here are the top 10 reasons Christians can never vote for Mitt Romney and they have nothing to do with his Mormon faith.
Romney forced homosexual marriage upon Massachusetts.
When the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decided in 2003 to recognize homosexual marriage, ignoring the voters and the Constitution, the court admitted it did not have power to issue licenses or force participation by justices of the peace to solemnize the weddings. But as governor, Romney didnt wait for the legislature to act, he just ordered the marriage licenses and weddings to go forward, all by himself. Earlier this month, Romney said in New Hampshire, What I would support [nationwide] is letting people who are of the same gender form if you will partnership agreements. And despite the over 2,500 pedophilia cases now on record involving homosexual Scout leaders, Romney once stated, I feel that all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.
Romney is pro-abortion.
This year hes the only major Republican presidential candidate who has yet to sign the Susan B. Anthony List pledge to defend life and defund Planned Parenthood nationwide. Candidates Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich, Paul, Pawlenty and Santorum all signed the pledge, although it should be noted Herman Cain supports everything in the pledge except the Fetal Pain Act. (Cain is not fully pro-life, either.) And who can forget Mitts famous 2002 campaign debate bragging repeatedly that hes more pro-choice than Ted Kennedy?
Romneycare is the reason we have Obamacare.
Long before President Obama forced a socialist health-care system on America, Mitt Romney seized control of private hospitals for the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts. Then he forced Christian hospitals and taxpayers to subsidize and facilitate abortions for just a $50 co-pay, proof here.
Romney wont defund abortion, and he wont protect the conscience rights of Christian health-care workers who refuse to help in child-murder.
Romney opposes our Second Amendment rights.
Gun Owners of America recently rebuked Romney for saying he promised not to do anything to chip away at Massachusetts extremely restrictive gun laws. We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them, he said during a gubernatorial debate. I wont chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety. Even worse, Romney signed a law to permanently ban many semi-automatic firearms. Romney said in 2004, They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people. Romney also spoke in favor of the Brady laws five-day waiting period on handguns. The Boston Globe quotes Romney saying, I dont think (the waiting period) will have a massive effect on crime, but I think it will have a positive effect.
Romney appoints liberal Democrats as judges.
The Boston Globe confirmed that as a so-called Republican governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney appointed 14 Democrats, 13 Independents and only 9 Republicans as judges. Thats 27 of 36, or 3 of every 4, Romney judges that are liberal. So if President Romney someday appoints even one Supreme Court Justice, theres a 75 percent chance theyll vote with Kagan and Sotomayor 100 percent of the time. If we wouldnt trust Romney himself on the Supreme Court, why let him appoint more Massachusetts Democrats to the federal bench?
Mitt Romney supports adoption of innocent children by homosexual cohabitaters.
As if orphans dont have enough troubles, Gov. Romney has consistently said that gay adoption should be assessed on a state-by-state basis, his spokesman said this month. On Oct. 17, 2006, CNNs Wolf Blitzer asked Romney: Should do you believe that gays and lesbians should be able to adopt children?
Romney responded: Well, they are able to adopt children.
Blitzer followed: But do you think thats good?
Romney said: And Im not going to change that.
And Romney wont veto any pro-homosexual bill passed by Congress. Hed start by supporting ENDA, the so-called Employment Non-Discrimination Act that would force churches, religious schools, and Christian charities and bookstores to hire immoral people who oppose their religious mission. Tim Russert once asked Romney on Meet the Press:
Russert: You said [in 1994] that you would sponsor [Sen. Ted Kennedy’s federal] Employment Nondiscrimination Act. Do you still support it?
Romney: At the state level. I think it makes sense at the state level for states to put in provision of this.
Romney wont protect the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), or actually campaign to repeal Dont Ask, Dont Tell to protect our chaplains and Christian troops from harassment. Hes in bed with the homosexual movement at the same time he avoids Christians in Iowa like the plague.
A shocking new book shows Romney actively hurt pro-family causes.
According to Amy Contradas new book, Mitt Romneys deception, His Stealth Promotion of Gay Rights and Gay Marriage in Massachusetts, Gov. Romney, from 2003-2006:
worked closely with homosexual activists and pro-gay rights advisers;
implemented gay marriage through his executive departments without legislative authorization, violating the Massachusetts Constitution;
pushed a constitutional amendment strategy doomed to failure, and ignored the call to remove the activist judges who ruled for gay marriage;
funded and promoted GLBT indoctrination in the public schools through his Governors Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and his Department of Education Safe Schools programs;
undermined religious freedom, failing to defend Catholic Charities in the homosexual adoptions fiasco;
continued or implemented radical homosexual and transgender programs in his executive departments.
Romney is not a fiscal conservative.
While he wishes to appear pro-business, Romneycare proved him just another Obama-clone socialist. And Romney still hasnt told the truth about how he opposed the Bush tax cuts.
Romney supported liberal amnesty programs.
He hindered Americas national security and economic independence, as Americans for Border Security reports: In 2006 Gov. Romney supported the presidents immigration policy as well as the McCain-Kennedy bill. He expressed support for an immigration program that places large numbers of illegal residents on the path toward citizenship. [without requiring they return home and wait their turn, allowing them to cut in line before law-abiding immigrants]
Never mind that Romney hired (then fired) illegal aliens to landscape his yard. If Romney supports unlimited amnesty without any rule of law, how will he stand on national security?
Romney made the Top 10 list of worst RINOs.
According to the official list keepers of Republicans-In-Name-Only at Human Events, hes listed eight-worst in America because he said, I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. He supports civil unions and stringent gun laws. After visiting Houston, Romney criticized the citys aesthetics, saying, This is what happens when you dont have zoning.
Bottom line: Evangelical Christians who care about pro-family, pro-freedom, pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-law/order issues can NEVER support Mitt Romney for president, even if he wins the Republican primary, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with his Mormon faith.
Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt is a former Navy chaplain who runs The Pray In Jesus Name Project, which delivered 2.5 million fax petitions to Congress last year for Christian causes.
